Sephora VIB Sale 2016 Top Picks

Ahhh... it's that time of year again! The Sephora VIB sale 2016 is on! This is your chance to score 15 per cent off all of your beauty lusts and must-haves. I've rounded up my favourite items I've been coveting to add (or replentish) in my beauty stash!
  1. The Invisibobble Traceless hair ring, $10. This product is new, and makes hair kinks a thing of the past! Because I have long hair, I prefer to put my hair up in a loose bun/ponytail hybrid to keep tangles at bay and give me soft waves, but sometimes I wake up with unsightly kinks and have to resort to my hair straightener. With this nifty hair tie, that will be a thing of the past, and I'm excited to test it out.
  2. Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer, $32. I am absolutely in LOVE with this concealer. I've been using shade R22 to colour correct my dark circles, and then shade Y23 to brighten my under eyes. This concealer is so opaque and is perfect for hiding that exam season stress or late night out! I could never go back to any other eye concealer now.
  3. Benefit Cheekathon Blush & Bronzer Palette, $75. HOW GORGEOUS IS THIS? From the packaging to the powders inside, I must have this palette. Hoola bronzer is one of my fave matte bronzers, while Coralista is perfect for giving you that peachy blush! Dandelion is one of my fave "everyday" highlighters, while Dallas is the perfect winter bronzer-n-blush in one. So getting 5 products in one handy palette is sure to be a hit!
  4. Kat Von D Shade and Light Contour Eye Palette, $55. I've been testing out eyeshadows from different brands, and so many of them seem to focus on shimmer shades. I'm loving that this palette contains every neutral in one place and is gorgeously matte for every day wear, or amped up smokey eyes. And because it's an exclusive to Sephora product, it's a great time to take advantage of the discount!
  5. Foreo LUNA For Sensitive/Normal Skin, $199. This is a product I'm dying to try! I've been realizing I've been breaking out (yay for exam season stress!) and noticed it's likely because I'm not taking the time to cleanse my skin properly and fully. I recently bought a crazy electric toothbrush and even my dentist noticed a difference, so I'm hoping the timer on this product, and the ultrasonic pulses will have the same improvement on my skin!
  6. Ouai Wave Spray, $32. If you haven't heard of Ouai yet, prepared to see it in magazines everywhere! This wavy texture spray promises Cali-babe locks, infusing your hair with rice proteins (yay! NOT gluten) and giving you that texture without the yucky crunch.
  7. The Original Beauty Blender, $28. The last time I recommended this amazing tool was in November, and if you bought one then, you're way overdue replacing it! Remember to keep breakouts at bay to always keep your tools hygienic, so replace this wonder sponge every few months!
  8. Mr. Burberry Beard Oil, $55. Beard oils are a big trend in men's grooming, and this one, with its elegant packaging and sophisticated scent is a great way to pamper your guy, or treat your dad for father's day!
  9. Disney Minnie Beauty by Sephora Collection Brush Set, $73. I'm a Disney maniac, so of course, I need to get my hands on some Disney/Sephora merch! I love how this brush set comes complete with a Minnie Bow brush stand!
  10. Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita, $24. This is a perennial fave that sells out all the time. The formula is super matte and doesn't budge all day long, while the gorgeous chestnut rose shade is inimitable.

Clarins Multi-Active Review + a Spring Beauty look

A few weeks ago, I had the chance to attend an event for the launch of Clarins Multi-Active. A skincare line geared to millenials, it was interesting to check out products targeted to 90s kids instead of people 40+.

Clarins Multi-Active Review

clarins multi-active review clarins spring 2016 (1 of 11) I'm surprised that the Clarins Multi-Active day cream lacks SPF protection which, in all honesty, is the ONE element every under 40 skincare product needs. While of course, you could layer a sunscreen on top of it, most people my age want an all-in-one product to cut down time spent in the morning, and the effects on our wallets. What makes the Multi-Active line unique is the inclusion of teasel extract, a flower that has an antioxidant effect. Myrothamnus extract also targets the pressures millenials are under by smoothing fine lines and boosting collagen production -- erasing those all-nighters prepping for a presentation! Hyaluronic acid is a must in any skin care product I use, which provides moisture and has anti-ageing properties. I think if this day cream had an SPF included as well, it would be perfect! I also wish it came in a pump dispenser, because I worry about bacteria and air spoiling the precious contents of the jar. The cream is very light, not heavy, making it a good makeup base as well. Shop the beauty look: [show_shopthepost_widget id="1483527"]

Stripes in SoHo

During my trip to NYFW, I wanted to represent Canadian fashion south of the border, and I was so excited to team up with Joe Fresh for a couple of looks. I wore a Joe Fresh striped dress with a chic Mackage coat for a comfortable look I wore while taking in the shows and shopping around SoHo. It was so freezing, that I only wanted to be uncomfortable in one way, so I decided to freeze instead of subjecting my feet to running around in heels all day. I noticed a lot more girls at fashion week skipping heels in favour of chic ankle boots and flat over the knee boots, and I thought my lace up flats were a great way to add interest to my outfit. I'm wearing a Joe Fresh striped dress (c/o), a wool coat by Mackage, an Alexander Wang Prisma backpack, tights c/o Secret and lace up flats from Old Navy (oh yes, believe it.) that are sold out, but here's a similar pair. Behind the Scenes: Leanne Marshall FW 2016 with Aveda

At NYFW, I had the unique experience to go backstage with Aveda and check out their hair and makeup team get the models ready for the runway. Here's a look behind the scenes: Leanne Marshall FW 2016. behind the scenes leanne marshall (4 of 18) For hair, Aveda artists used the brand's flexible hold Air Control Hair Spray. A neat part about this product is that it eliminates static which was a high priority with the frigid temperatures that week! The look for the show was inspired by macramé, but was far from boho. The low ponytail was so unique in that cobra knots were created out of the hair itself. I can't wait to recreate the look myself, and hide those pesky hair ties. behind the scenes leanne marshall (17 of 18) I also had the chance to sneak a peek into the dressing room where the gorgeous gowns were getting last minute finishes. The designer, Leanne Marshall, was there answering a few questions for press. "For me it's how many different ways can I make this one material appear." Marshall's design philosophy was evident by the textures of her gowns, with pleats, ruffles, lace and contrasting materials. I loved having a glimpse into the last minute show preparations, and experiencing the "calm chaos" of trying to darn the last hems to get the gowns sent down the runway.

Spring Break in Bikini Village

For reading week, my sister was lucky enough to head to sunny Florida. Besides her Minnie Mouse ears, the first thing she packed were a few new bikinis from Bikini Village. Just in time for spring break, their website stocks plenty of mid to high-end swimwear brands like Vitamin A, Nanette Lepore, Billabong and my new favourite, Maaji. My sister took a couple Maaji suits with her on vacation, which incorporate a few of the hottest swimwear trends.
