Queen’s Plate 2016

A couple weeks ago, I attended the Queen's Plate 2016 for a day of fashion, food and fun at the races. A big part of attending this event is race fashion, and I turned to Fitzroy Boutique's dress rentals for Queen's Plate 2016. The pop-up shop is shaking up the consumerist model with their curated selection of dress rentals. Available for pick up in their Ossington store, you can email to reserve a dress, and then try it on at their pop up to make sure it fits. For a mere $50, a designer dress is yours for four days... and that price includes dry cleaning too! With unique designers from Canada and Australia, it's also less likely you'll show up to a wedding and have an US Weekly, "Who Wore It Better" dilemma too. queen's plate 2016 (4 of 8) queen's plate 2016 (8 of 8) I picked out this stunning Paige Eyelet lace dress by Brose, which features a beautiful asymmetrical hem and boned bustier. The dress retails for over $695, but $50 is the perfect sweet spot to borrow this beauty for a few days! I thought it was the perfect dress for the races. I wore a white dress last year to the Queen's Plate, and I was so happy to wear white (my favourite shade in summer), without having to worry about wedding guest protocol. queen's plate 2016 (7 of 8) For my accessories, I kept it simple with a black and white fascinator headband, and nude sandals from Joe Fresh. My glitter sunglasses are Miu Miu, jewelry by Kate Spade and Forever 21, and I wore a Rebecca Minkoff mini affair bag, which stocked all my essentials: tickets for my loser horses, band-aids (a must for the Queen's Plate!), lipstick and cell phone. I was able to hide my cellphone and tickets in my pockets without having to fiddle around in my bag. I'd even consider going to an event without a purse, so I could dance the night away. Daniel kept asking me to hide his cell in the pockets too! If you're attending a wedding or have a big event this summer, I would definitely consider renting a dress. I have too many formal dresses I've worn once sitting at the back of my closet, and this option is both friendly on my wallet and the environment.

Red white and blue

Happy fourth of July to all my American friends! To celebrate Independence Day, I wore a red white and blue dress c/o Pink Martini and a matching red bag. I wore this look to the zoo, an ice cream date on Ossington and by the Harbourfront. The Bloom Where You're Planted dress was comfortable and breezy for a hot day, it would make the perfect piece for a summer wedding! Pink Martini Collection is also a Canadian label, and I've fallen in love with their girly, retro style. fourth of july dress (5 of 10)fourth of july dress (9 of 10) I'm wearing a red white and blue dress c/o Pink Martini, red mini Emile tote by Alexander Wang, sunglasses c/o Polette and espadrilles from Nine West. Canada D’Eh

Happy Canada Day! Today is a great opportunity to show off your Canadian pride, and I wanted to share my perfect Canada day dress. On our nation's birthday, I always wear red and white on Canada Day, and this gingham dress from Design Lab is the perfect piece. If you're looking for a Canada Day dress, I love the idea of wearing a striped or gingham dress, because it can be worn to more formal occasions as well, so you don't have a shirt with maple leafs sitting in your closet collecting dust! I hope all of you enjoy the long weekend, and enjoy Canada Day with your loved ones. canada day red and white dress design lab red gingham dress canada day dress toronto I'm wearing a red and white gingham dress c/o Design Lab, white hat from Joe Fresh and folding Wayfarers from Ray-Ban. Clarins Summer 2016 Collection review

The Clarins Summer 2016 collection is full of beauty products that will enhance your inner goddess. From bronzer to waterproof eyeshadow, Clarins beauty put forward an excellent, curated collection this season. I've shared a review of Clarins' summer collection, as well as a beauty look pulling together my favourite products from the line. clarins bronzer To pull off this natural summer look perfect for the beach, I'm wearing Clarins Ombre Waterproof Cream eyeshadow in Golden Sand for the base, and Taupe in the crease. I used my fingers to pat on the base colour and blend in the accent. I finished my eyes with my favourite eyeliner and Double Fix Mascara. For my skin, I used my regular base and added the new Clarins Bronzing and Blush powder duo and sealed it in with Clarins Fix Make-Up so that it would last all day. For lips, I used the Clarins Natural Lip Perfector which gave a light colour and great shine without being sticky. I have been on the quest for the perfect self-tanning moisturizer, and I've found it. I've tried drugstore brands and even La Mer, but the Clarins formula delivers a bronzy hue, isn't patchy and smells like HEAVEN. I love the intoxicating fig scent. I've been using it once a week to keep my tan on!
