How to wear plaid without looking like a lumberjack

It’s amazing how fall weather can snap. Last week, I wore this plaid shirt with sandals, and the next week, I’ve transitioned into booties and scarves. I had the chance to take a lovely walk around the University of Toronto campus and snapped some pictures of this outfit.

I’m wearing a plaid shirt with shoulder cut-outs from Forever 21, GAP super skinny pants (my favourite workwear pant ever), shooties from Vince Camuto (similar here) and my Kate Spade Maggie bag.

I love tartan, but fell in love with the studded details and sexy shoulder cut outs. These details keep it from looking too “lumberjack” and I added a Jewelmint collar necklace to pull the look together. A pair of heels and a structured bag also turn a casual fall basic into a date night outfit. When it gets chilly at night, simply throw on a leather jacket for a sexy, pulled together look featuring fall’s hottest print.

Very stylish! I’m a pretty big fan of plaid, and you don’t look like a lumberjack at all!
