Soia & Kyo SS2014

Last night, I attended the Soia & Kyo spring/summer 2014 show. Created by Ilan Elfassy in 2004, the Canadian brand is known for its practical yet streamlined designs. The collection that went down the flower-printed runway last night was very wearable- any coat would be the perfect addition to your spring wardrobe.

This season, the collection’s colour palette was more muted. Khaki, beige and light blues were at the centre of the collection. There was a mix of materials too from nylons to beautiful suede pieces. I also loved the puffer jackets for both men and women. Canadian springs can be chilly and these light-coloured jackets would still be warm, but more cheery for the spring season. The men’s collection was very strong, and I loved all the casual zippered jackets. The styling of this show was great too. The female models had their hair in loose waves and donned cute short suits, neutral heels and rolled up lunch bag purses. There were a few pairs of white mules thrown into the mix that were edgy yet feminine at the same time. Overall, I loved the collection’s wide array of practical pieces. Any one of them would be the perfect raincoat!
