Dahlia Fields

Imagine a field full of colourful flowers, as far as the eye can see. I can’t believe that was my weekend! On Sunday, we drove about 40 minutes from Toronto and discovered a gorgeous farm, with fruit trees, berries and adorable pumpkin patches. But the highlight for me, was a field full of dahlias in all shapes, colours and sizes. This magical place is Andrews Scenic Acres and it’s definitely worth a visit soon, while the flowers are still out.

It was a sweltering day, almost 40 degrees with the humidity, but we paid the $5 entrance fee (free on weekdays!) and borrowed some clippers to pick some dahlias. We ended up making over 4 bouquets with different themes! We only cut 15 stems, and it only cost about $12 for everything which was a complete steal. PRO TIP: come to Andrews Scenic Acres with a bucket in your car so you can put the flowers in water right away! We had to drive to a nearby dollar store to pick up an emergency mop bucket to save these beauties.

For our flower-picking adventure at Andrews Scenic Acres, I wanted to wear something elegant, feminine and retro. I found this green and white-striped dress from Zara (similar striped dress here), which has fun puffed sleeves and an A-line shape. I belted it with my skinny Gucci Marmont belt, to add some glamour to the country look. I also wore a fun green top-handle Whipster bag from Aldo Accessories, that reminds me of the Gucci collection too. I love how it has those fun pearls. I kept jewelry simple and wore studs c/o Pandora and a charm bracelet c/o Thomas Sabo Charm Club. For shoes, I wore simple tan sandals from Clarks, but would recommend closed toe or washable shoes since the fields get dusty.

We took so many pictures in this stunning field. I loved all the different varieties of dahlias and the overall effect was amazing. There weren’t as many bees at Andrews Scenic Acres as the lavender fields, in case you’re allergic, I’d say it’s safe to visit!

Visiting little farms and flower fields is starting to become a fun tradition. While I love going to wineries in Niagara, this summer, I visited Terre Bleu, and am planning another trip to an apple orchard after having so much fun last year at Applewood Farm Winery. If you have any orchard recommendations, please leave a comment below!

Afterwards, we were so hot, we needed to chill out. We ended up driving into Bronte for an early dinner at Yolanda’s Spuntino Casa. This restaurant was so chic and beautiful, but the food was standout too. We ended up sharing the Beef Carpaccio and Branzino, while I enjoyed a summer favourite, Aperol Spritz. Yesterday was a bit of an early birthday celebration, and Daniel surprised me with a delicious chocolate mousse. I loved how we were still outside to enjoy the weather, but had some refuge in the shade. It totally reminded me of someplace in Florida! I have never been to this area before, and I look forward to coming back next summer.
