This week, I’ve teamed up with Laura from Walking in Memphis in High Heels and Erin from The Fashion Canvas for the Trend Spin Linkup. Every week, bloggers and readers share their take on a trend and this week, the theme was statement pieces. I wanted to take a different approach than my usual statement necklace, and instead wore a pink trench coat and statement earrings.

I love the way these statement earrings can add some glitz to a casual look. To keep it from being stuffy, I made a tiny boho fishtail braid and pinned back my hair to show off the jewelry! In addition, my oversized tote has been going everywhere with me. It’s big enough to fit my laptop, casebooks and lunch, but it’s cute and sleek enough to wear out to dinner or the mall (not that I have time anymore for that!)
I’m wearing a pink waterfall trench, embellished boyfriend jeans from H&M, striped tee from Forever 21, large tote from Indigo (similar here), Vara bow flats from Salvatore Ferragamo and statement earrings from Forever 21.

Now that spring weather is here to stay, I love infusing statement pieces into classic outfits like I did here with jeans and a tee. It’s amazing what a colourful trench and bag or a bit of jewelry can do to brighten a monotonous look!
PS Please excuse my remote in these pictures! I’ve been so busy studying for exams, I haven’t had the time to set up a proper photo shoot.
