It seems to me that last week, it was all about Queen Street West! An exciting (but temporary) addition to the block was a pop-up TopShop location where people could get a glimpse at the summer collection and shop before The Bay unveils their capsule collection on June 30.
Both the TopShop and TopMan labels were present, and had a range of items from staw hats to summer sandals.
While I liked the accessories at the sale, I was extremely disappointed with their clothing collection for men and women. The clothes looked tired and drab, and all worked off that “hippie chic” look. There wasn’t enough variety in the selection and I felt discouraged to try things on due to the long lineup for the makeshift curtain dressing room.
I was also disappointed with the high price points of the garments. For almost a year, I’ve been picking up carefully curated TopShop items at Jonathan + Olivia… who often hold amazing sales and stock a hefty discounted rack. I hope that when the TopShop store opens at Yorkdale in September, there will be more variety and better prices for the fast-fashion items. I did however love the set up and atmosphere at this event, especially the astroturf and lounge chair oasis in the middle of the city.
