Saks off 5th comes to Canada

Last week, I checked out one of the new Saks Off 5th Canada locations, at Vaughan Mills. I've shopped till I've dropped at Saks Off 5th in Florida... and even scored a Phillip Lim bag for under $250! I was so excited to hear that Off 5th was coming to Vaughan Mills and Tanger Outlets in Ottawa, and last week I finally got to shop the store myself. Saks Off 5th Canada entered the Canadian market to provide customers with a high-end discount store. The focus is on curation, and assuring customers will find something exciting without having to sort through duds on a rack. Because everything is bought specifically for the Saks Off 5th Canada stores, the merchandise is a lot more fresh! There's also one of a kind finds coming in straight from the newly-opened Saks Fifth Avenue stores as well. saks off 5th canada vaughan mills (5 of 11) saks off 5th canada vaughan mills (7 of 11) saks off 5th canada vaughan mills (9 of 11) I also loved to hear that the buyer herself is Canadian, and has been a buyer for Hudson's Bay for decades! She knows what the Canadian customer wants (i.e. lots of layers, coats, practical winter shoes) which sometimes can be a miss when US retailers open in Canada. Another exciting element to this is that there are Canadian brands peppered throughout the store. I spotted Lazypants, Löle, Matt & Nat and a couple jewelry brands from homegrown talent! This helps strengthen the store's Canadian identity, and is also an amazing opportunity for these local brands to grow their customer base.

Hillberg & Berk Tessa Virtue Collection

Everyone knows I love things that sparkle, so I jumped at the chance to style a few pieces from the Hillberg & Berk Tessa Virtue Collection. Tessa Virtue is one of my favourite figure skaters and I remember watching her gold-winning performance on my laptop in my Disneyworld hotel, and screaming after their stunning performance. Hillberg & Berk is also an established Canadian jewelry brand, that even designed a brooch for the Queen. I've worn their sparkle ball earrings in the past, and was curious to see pieces from this new, special collaboration! The styles in the Hillberg & Berk Tessa Virtue Collection range from bohemian, layered pieces with earthy gemstones, to minimalistic sparkly baubles. hillberg & berk (6 of 9) hillberg & berk (9 of 9) I'm wearing a tweed cropped blazer (old, similar here), neoprene skater dress, black suede jewelled flats, Whitaker Place Elena bag by Kate Spade, Kenington earrings in gold c/o Hillberg & Berk, Eze bracelet in gold c/o Hillberg & Berk, Scout necklace c/o Hillberg & Berk, and the Portobello ring c/o Hillberg & Berk. Clarins Multi-Active Review + a Spring Beauty look

A few weeks ago, I had the chance to attend an event for the launch of Clarins Multi-Active. A skincare line geared to millenials, it was interesting to check out products targeted to 90s kids instead of people 40+.

Clarins Multi-Active Review

clarins multi-active review clarins spring 2016 (1 of 11) I'm surprised that the Clarins Multi-Active day cream lacks SPF protection which, in all honesty, is the ONE element every under 40 skincare product needs. While of course, you could layer a sunscreen on top of it, most people my age want an all-in-one product to cut down time spent in the morning, and the effects on our wallets. What makes the Multi-Active line unique is the inclusion of teasel extract, a flower that has an antioxidant effect. Myrothamnus extract also targets the pressures millenials are under by smoothing fine lines and boosting collagen production -- erasing those all-nighters prepping for a presentation! Hyaluronic acid is a must in any skin care product I use, which provides moisture and has anti-ageing properties. I think if this day cream had an SPF included as well, it would be perfect! I also wish it came in a pump dispenser, because I worry about bacteria and air spoiling the precious contents of the jar. The cream is very light, not heavy, making it a good makeup base as well. Shop the beauty look: [show_shopthepost_widget id="1483527"]

It's been a lot lighter this year, but I'm already excited to ditch sweater tights, snow boots and mittens. Here is my first day of spring outfit to celebrate the new season and new beginnings! I'm wearing a floral peasant blouse from Topshop at Hudson's Bay, distressed girlfriend jeans from H&M, purple mirror aviator sunglasses by Ray-Ban, a beige MAB tote by Rebecca Minkoff, and Minnetonka wedge fringe booties. Flatiron District

flatiron building (4 of 13)flatiron building (5 of 13) flatiron building (2 of 13) My last day in New York wasn't supposed to be my last day in New York. In fact, I should have been sitting in Evidence class, but was stuck in NYC after my plane had anti-freeze drip through the cabin door and a freak ice storm came right as we were about to take off. My boyfriend made his flight (note to self, stick with Canadian airlines!) while I had the chance to roam the streets for an extra day. I had the chance to take in the gorgeous Hiromi Asai show, and meet my friend Dasha, a Torontonian turned NYC expat to explore the Flatiron District. I'm wearing a floral silk blouse c/o Joe Fresh, a high waisted skirt from Hudson's Bay, black coat by Mackage, my Alexander Wang Prisma backpack and over the knee boots c/o La Canadienne.
