New Year’s Eve Outfit Idea for Cold Weather

With 2018 coming to a close, it’s time to make plans for New Year’s Eve, including what to do and what to wear. This year, I’m sharing a new year’s eve outfit idea for cold weather, as I’ll be in Montreal to ring in the new year. Last year, I had the pleasure of spending New Year’s Eve in San Diego, so this year, I’ll have to learn to layer up.

What I'm wearing for NYE: this chic Ted Baker floral dress pairs perfectly with the Pairus pump by Jessica Simpson from DSW.

I’m wearing a floral dress from Ted Baker, sheer patterned tights, pink suede heels by Jessica Simpson from DSW Canada, and a vintage Chanel purse from Fashionphile, borrowed from my mum.

These pink suede pumps add the perfect dash of glam to a darker winter look. I love the soft suede and the feminine scallops at the vamp and around the heel. They’re also incredibly comfortable with a secure ankle strap. While I wish I could wear sandals like last year for NYE, a pair of glamorous closed-toe pumps are a great compromise for boots.

To make this look a little bit warmer, I also threw on a pair of elegant patterned sheer tights. They aren’t the most warm, but they do provide a bit of a barrier from the elements and add some allure to this look. In the summer, I would easily repeat this outfit without the tights, which would be perfect for a garden event or summer wedding.

Results from using the T3 Micro curling wand: to achieve this look, I use the 1" clipless barrel and set my curls with metal alligator clips.

For hair, I used my trusty T3 Micro curling wand and set my curls with alligator clips to achieve these retro, polished waves. I love taking the time to set my hair as I do my makeup, it really helps set the mood for an evening out! As for my eyeshadow, I’m wearing the Jaclyn Hill x Morphe Palette.

All that’s missing from this outfit is a stylish faux fur cropped jacket or a long wool coat. While New Year’s typically means sequins and heeled booties, I love that this look is more refined for a dinner or concert setting. These fuchsia suede heels from DSW Canada are my newest favourite, and I can’t wait to style them with more fun tights for Valentine’s Day. This New Year’s Eve outfit idea for cold weather is an easy formula I’ll be repeating again soon! Let me know in the comments below what you’re wearing for New Year’s Eve!

thanks so much Liv! I think in winter, we always pick black or metallic heels, but it’s fun to inject some bold colour. Happy new year!
