Makeup Monday: Mary Kay Spring 2017 Collection

Pastel beauty is taking over the beauty scene. Now that April is here, I wanted to share some selections from the Mary Kay Spring 2017 Collection, as well as a flirty, pastel sunset eyeshadow look.

The Mary Kay Spring 2017 collection is called Light Reinvented – and all the colours are flirty, pastel and perfect for spring. I combined shades from the Sunlight and Glistening Horizon Limited Edition eyeshadow palettes ($26 each) to create this sunset-inspired look. These two palettes are almost perfect dupes for the Kat Von D Pastel Goth Palette. The Sunlight palette from Mary Kay is especially on trend, with a gorgeous peach shadow and luminescent highlight shade. The colours are incredibly pigmented and are long lasting. Of course, for light shades, it’s a good idea to use a good primer or cream base to let the colours pop. I’ve shared swatches of both palettes below:

I also really liked the Limited Edition Glossy Lip Oils ($19) from the Mary Kay Spring 2017 collection. They feature a pigment-packed formula that moisturizes lips and gives an on-trend glossy look. I really like wearing them over a matte lip liner for contrast, or as a moisturizing alternative to lipstick. I really like the felt applicators (think of the Too Faced Melted line) which are precise and conserve product. On the look above, I’m wearing Magenta Ray on my lips.

I also tested out a few shades from their nail lacquer line ($10). I’ve been getting so many compliments on these fun, poppy shades! I love that they are pure and do not have a grey cast. The New Blue shade is my favourite… it’s be perfect baby blue and is so crisp – without a drop of grey or beige!

I love all four colours, but find that the brush and formula can make application a bit difficult. I think thin coats or even applying this product with a sponge is your best bet.

I really liked how daring the Mary Kay Spring 2017 makeup collection is. All the colours are super fun, on-trend and a great way to energize your makeup routine!
