Cirque du Soleil Luzia in Toronto review

In August, I went to Cirque du Soleil Luzia in Toronto and it was absolutely phenomenal! I know this might come too little too late, but I wanted to write a quick post about the experience, and you can still grab tickets to see the show until October 16! cirque-du-soleil-luzia-toronto-6-of-6 I wanted to channel the nature and colours of Mexico, so I wore this floral lace dress from Mendocino. I love the unique print and texture of this lace, as well as the bright teal colour. I paired it with my comfy Vince Camuto heels and my new medium Prada Galleria bag. This outfit felt dressy and fun!

TomTom Spark Review

Ever since I started training for the Nike Women's 15K last year, I started tracking my runs to see progress. I usually use my phone on an armband, which I found cumbersome. For Christmas, I got an Apple Watch and was excited to be able to work out phone-free, only to realize to track any GPS, you need your phone there too! I was super excited to have the chance to test drive the new TomTom Spark GPS Fitness watch and share an in-depth review of my experience using it. TomTom Spark design & battery life Screen Shot 2016-06-19 at 10.47.24 AM

tomtom spark review design As for the fashion of the watch, I like that it’s simple and black. I would have preferred a silicone band to make it more comfortable to wear, but I suspect that as the unit pops out, you could swap bands as well. My main complaint is that the plastic on the back of the unit makes for a hot and sweaty device. I tried loosening the watch a bit but if it’s too lose, I worry it won’t be accurate in its heart rate measurements. I think this has more to do with the shape and design of the watch, and perhaps a method for ventilation would improve the wearability for me on a sweaty run! I find the all black to be really sleek, and in comparison to other GPS run watches out there, the design is incredibly aesthetically pleasing, and I have worn it a few times throughout the day to track my steps. During the day, I like that the time display is always visible, as well as the date. I also like that in a couple buttons, I can access my steps data and heart rate information. I find the navigation and accessibility of the data much simpler than on my Apple Watch. As for the battery life, I found I could wear this watch for a few days in a row to track steps and a couple little workouts and a run or two without losing power. This is MILES ahead of my Apple Watch, which I need to recharge once a day (especially if I track a workout). I would definitely feel more confident going into a race with the TomTom Spark, because I know my tunes would keep playing, while the device would continue to track my run.

Anniversary staycation: Nordik Spa-Nature Review

Nordik Spa-Nature Review

A couple weekends ago, my boyfriend came up to Ottawa from Toronto to celebrate our six year anniversary. We wanted to remember the occasion with something special, and visited Le Nordik for a day of pampering and relaxation. I'm excited to share a Nordik Spa-Nature review if you're thinking of visiting soon too. North America's largest spa is located only 10 minutes from downtown Ottawa, in Chelsea, Quebec, nearby the gorgeous Gatineau Park. Upon checkin, guests are given an electronic wristband to a coordinating locker. I loved this because it made it simple to leave everything and I didn't have to worry about losing a card, key or combination. I changed into my bikini and fluffy robe and took a tour of the massive spa. There were three main areas, the closest to the entrance, Borëa, featured the warmest hot tub (which was heavenly), a cold waterfall and Vaporo, which were aromatic steam Finnish saunas that diffused essential oils. I'm usually not a big fan of dry saunas, but the wet saunas with Eucalyptus or Orange essential oils were so heavenly and I could feel me skin getting softer, as my sinuses got relief too. After leaving the sauna, I dipped into the cold pool, while my boyfriend was braver and went under the freezing cold waterfall. This is all part of the process of detoxifying the body. You start off hot (with a sauna), cool off in the cold water, and then spend about 15-20 minutes relaxing. I definitely spent more time than that  in the hot tub though!
