The weekend is finally here. After a long week of work, meetings and events, I’m so looking forward to winding down with a good read by the lake. I’ve packed my Amazon Kindle Paperwhite and a few summer essentials in my bag this weekend. I wanted to share my Summer 2017 Reading List, in case you’re looking for the perfect beach read.
My Amazon Kindle Paperwhite is one of my fave purchases this year! I also bought a stylish pink leather cover for it, and have been sneaking in pages on the TTC and on my lunch breaks. I’m a bit of a book worm, but after reading so much material for the Bar exams, it took a while to get back into loving reading again. The Kindle has revolutionized that experience and I’m sharing my Summer 2017 Reading List with you.
Summer 2017 Reading List
- Rich People Problems by Kevin Kwan. I brought along Crazy Rich Asians on my trip to Spain, and loved the indulgent, fun read. It’s perfect for the beach! This is the third and latest installment in this trilogy
- Big Law by Lindsay Cameron I don’t work in Big Law, but as a baby lawyer I’m so curious to read this book about the culture and drama of big law firms.
- The Universe Has Your Back by Gabrielle Bernstein. 2017 has been a very challenging year. I’ve dealt with stress, health issues and trying to balance a career with everything else going on. I’m looking forward to unwinding and learning more about Bernstein’s advice on transforming fear into faith.
- The Stranger in the Woods by Michael Finkel. Perfect for the cottage, this book outlines the incredible story of Cristopher Knight, who for 27 years, survived alone in the wilderness, and sneaking into cabins. Thankfully, my parents go up to the cottage three nights a week!
- The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood. This Canadian-lit classic has been in the spotlight, thanks to the wildly successful Hulu series, and rising socio-political tensions. I want to rediscover this classic with a fresh set of eyes again.
- One Day We Will All Be Dead and None of This Will Matter: Essays by Scaachi Koul. I’m so excited to read this book of essays, because it was written by a former classmate at Ryerson Journalism School. If you are a fan of Mindy Kaling’s book, but with a Canadian touch, this might be perfect for you!
I’ve also rounded up some adorable backpacks and totes, perfect for carrying around your Kindle or a stack of books to read on the dock.
