A couple days ago, I left my teenage years behind.  All weekend long, I went all out celebrating my 20th birthday with family and friends, so here are some of the highlights.

Before going out, Vodka and Vogue are necessities.  I had way too much fun making a pyramid of plastic wine glasses earlier.

My beautiful best friends.  Dasha’s dress is from Zara, her shoes are from Jeffrey Campbell.  Regina was also in a bandage LBD.

I wore a pleated one-shouldered cocktail dress from Forever XXI.  Cheap and chic. For shoes, I wore my newest pair of gold, 3-Strap Vivienne Westwood Anglomania shoes.  They were comfy enough to dance the night away.

On Monday (my actual birthday), Daniel took me to Casa Loma… a birthday treat fit for a princess.  I fell in love with the gorgeous grounds and beautiful furnishings inside.

This red chinoiserie dresser was so stunning.  The rich red complimented the space, and it was a bit more unique than the usual brown or black dresser.

The colour palette of this stained glass is stunning.  I definitely want to paint or style an outfit inspired by this picture.

I enjoyed the romantic and sad story behind the house, as well as the grandeur of some of the rooms.

It was hard to get a picture of us together, but we finally figured out how to use the self-timer function without using a tripod.  This idea might have been stolen from an American tourist how had the manoeuvre down pat.

I wore a Princess crown that day, unknowing that I would spend the day at Toronto’s very own castle.  When we bought tickets I explained to the guy at the front that it was my birthday and he said with a laugh, “Oh I thought the crown was because you went off your medication!”  Regardless, it’s the one day a year where in my mind, I believe I can pull it off.  I wore a dress from H&M, turquoise purse from Coach, Vivienne Westwood Anglomania shoes and jewellery from Forever XXI and Italy.

The gardens were absolutely beautiful.  I’m so happy my boyfriend took me there, and I couldn’t believe I had never visited before.

It was a date “Fit for a princess,” said Daniel.  Seriously though, I go crazy for adorable gestures like that.

For dinner, my family went to Baton Rouge where they brought me this delicious chocolate cake I couldn’t eat.  I plead guilty for licking the chocolate syrup.

Instead, my mother made me this gluten free cake using the Glutino brand chocolate cake mix.  It was delicious!  It tasted like a chocolate muffin and didn’t fall apart at all.

My family got me News Anchor Barbie… and I was pretty excited about this.

Daniel gave me this beautiful purse in a rich bordeau colour.  I can’t wait to wear it this fall, the colour is as rich as a fine wine.

My friends and family gave me so many beautiful pieces, that I decided to shoot them in a Coveteur-style gallery.  I’m so grateful for their generousity!

Thank you to everyone who made this birthday so special, and thank you for “softening the blow” of entering my 20th year of life.
