Thanksgiving

This weekend, I celebrated Thanksgiving with my family at my cottage in the North Kawarthas.  There was no place I’d rather be, and I was thankful for the gorgeous 25 degree sunny weather.

I took advantage of the good weather by walking around my cottage and marvelling at the leaves. The rich smell of falling leaves wafted in the air, as the sun beat down on the forest.

The warm weather also gave me a chance to wear sandals and a new dress I thought I’d have to wait for until next summer!

My dress was only $20 from the American Apparel warehouse sale.  If you missed the sale, don’t worry.  Most of the sale consisted of disco leggings and ugly sweaters, save for a few cute dresses I picked up on the first day of the long-weekend sale.  I love the melon orange colour of the lace, it’s truly a unique piece.  However, to wear it, you need a nude strapless slip dress.  Mine is from the Body collection at Victoria’s Secret, it’s truly my best friend when it comes to pulling off lace or see-through numbers like these!

My Amliya Owl bag felt right at home in the woods.

To achieve my Veronica Lake inspired do, I tightly braided my hair while it was damp and let it stay in a braid for two days.  I don’t like to use product, so I don’t mind letting my hair set for a while in order to achieve a look, but I’m sure you can speed up the process with setting gel or hairspray and sleep with a braid overnight.  My lipstick is #460 by Anna Sui, though I wish I had a lip brush up north to apply it better.

I was so excited because this weekend, I finally passed my G2 road test.  On the way home, we stopped off at a pumpkin patch to pick out a jack-o-lantern.  Considering the horrible and wet growing season this year, this farm’s crop was large and mostly round.  I wanted to take the largest one (for the measly price of $4), but we couldn’t even lift it into the car.

Fall is one of my favourite times of the year, and this weekend was one to remember.
