WayHome festival style

This weekend, I went to WayHome 2016 for a weekend of fun under the sun with an incredible lineup of musical artists. I wanted to share my WayHome festival style from the weekend, as well as some tips on how to dress for a music festival. wayhome music festival 2016 Before, typing in the phrase "how to dress for a music festival" would bring up flower crowns and cut-off jeans. Nowadays, flowy dresses, gladiator sandals and cool-girl chokers have taken over the scene. My WayHome festival style veered more towards chic than shabby. On Saturday, I wore a Zara dress (similar flowy dress here), a straw panama hat from Joe Fresh, mirrored sunglasses c/o Clearly, a turquoise and shell choker from Mexico and sandals from Athens (similar here). wayhome festival style 6ixStitch crochet crop top music festival outfit On Sunday, I kept things a little more boho, with a crocheted crop top from 6ixstitch, a denim skirt from Forever 21, and sunglasses c/o Polette. Summer in bloom

I'm always looking for a pair of quality, comfortable and stylish shoes for summer, and these La Canadienne sandals are the perfect choice for summer. With their laser cut detailing and smooth suede leather, these khaki sandals are perfect for both the office or a night out. I've worn La Canadienne boots before (they were my favourite last fall), and have also fallen in love with their summer offerings. I paired the Raimonda sandal with my favourite khaki jeans from Zara - the same jeans Kate Middleton wore in India and a floral blazer for a casual, office-appropriate summer look. red alexander wang bag (7 of 7) red alexander wang bag (6 of 7) red alexander wang bag (4 of 7) I'm wearing a floral blazer from Lauren Conrad's collection for Khol's (similar floral blazer here), pleated tee from J. Crew, khaki jeans from Zara (similar moto-inspired jeans here), a mini Emile tote by Alexander Wang, and "Raimonda" La Canadienne sandals. Shop the post: [show_shopthepost_widget id="1790167"]

Queen’s Plate 2016

A couple weeks ago, I attended the Queen's Plate 2016 for a day of fashion, food and fun at the races. A big part of attending this event is race fashion, and I turned to Fitzroy Boutique's dress rentals for Queen's Plate 2016. The pop-up shop is shaking up the consumerist model with their curated selection of dress rentals. Available for pick up in their Ossington store, you can email to reserve a dress, and then try it on at their pop up to make sure it fits. For a mere $50, a designer dress is yours for four days... and that price includes dry cleaning too! With unique designers from Canada and Australia, it's also less likely you'll show up to a wedding and have an US Weekly, "Who Wore It Better" dilemma too. queen's plate 2016 (4 of 8) queen's plate 2016 (8 of 8) I picked out this stunning Paige Eyelet lace dress by Brose, which features a beautiful asymmetrical hem and boned bustier. The dress retails for over $695, but $50 is the perfect sweet spot to borrow this beauty for a few days! I thought it was the perfect dress for the races. I wore a white dress last year to the Queen's Plate, and I was so happy to wear white (my favourite shade in summer), without having to worry about wedding guest protocol. queen's plate 2016 (7 of 8) For my accessories, I kept it simple with a black and white fascinator headband, and nude sandals from Joe Fresh. My glitter sunglasses are Miu Miu, jewelry by Kate Spade and Forever 21, and I wore a Rebecca Minkoff mini affair bag, which stocked all my essentials: tickets for my loser horses, band-aids (a must for the Queen's Plate!), lipstick and cell phone. Shop the post: [show_shopthepost_widget id="1774604"] The best part about this dress? POCKETS! Honestly this was a lifesaver at an event like this. I was able to hide my cellphone and tickets in my pockets without having to fiddle around in my bag. I'd even consider going to an event without a purse, so I could dance the night away. Daniel kept asking me to hide his cell in the pockets too! If you're attending a wedding or have a big event this summer, I would definitely consider renting a dress. I have too many formal dresses I've worn once sitting at the back of my closet, and this option is both friendly on my wallet and the environment.

Red white and blue

Happy fourth of July to all my American friends! To celebrate Independence Day, I wore a red white and blue dress c/o Pink Martini and a matching red bag. I wore this look to the zoo, an ice cream date on Ossington and by the Harbourfront. The Bloom Where You're Planted dress was comfortable and breezy for a hot day, it would make the perfect piece for a summer wedding! Pink Martini Collection is also a Canadian label, and I've fallen in love with their girly, retro style. fourth of july dress (5 of 10)fourth of july dress (9 of 10) I'm wearing a red white and blue dress c/o Pink Martini, red mini Emile tote by Alexander Wang, sunglasses c/o Polette and espadrilles from Nine West.
