At New York Fashion Week, sometimes it’s a bigger fashion show outside the tents. This is no exception at Lincoln Centre where hundreds of photographers and show attendees pulled out their most crazy and eccentric pieces in hopes of getting snapped. It’s a huge exhibition, and you can easily get lost in the crowd, unless you’re sporting dayglo neon, irridescent fabric or an eccentric hat to catch a streetstyle photog’s eye.
I decided to opt out of this crazy show and wear something I thought was trendy yet still true to my own personal style. I’m wearing a simple cream coloured dress in a floral fabric, and a trendy yet practical chiffon kimono to keep me warm inside the frigid AC’d building. I accessorized with a pair of ecclectic sunglasses from a vintage store and my eye-catching iridescent heels from BCBGeneration, that seemed to have gotten photographed more than the rest of me! For practicality, my bag was my trusty Collin Camera Bag, which held my DSLR, lipstick and business cards, since I didn’t really need much else that day.
I was so happy to have ran into Bobby Raffin, who was wearing these awesome Michael Kors palm-printed jeans and a DIY tee as a nod to Spirited away.
I also met another Torontonian, Lisa Dengler of Just Another Fashion Blog. I loved her simple and chic black and white combo, proving that less can be more, even in a circus like fashion week.
What are your favourite styles popping up? I think I’ve had it with neon and crazy looks, but so far I’ve loved all the leather skirts fashion’s elite have been sporting.
