This season, I’m embracing bright, colourful pieces, experimenting with volume and adding some life into old closet favourites with new accessories. The inspiration for this outfit were the little crocus flowers peeking out of the ground a couple weeks ago. I wore this purple midi skirt outfit to church on Easter weekend and then on a date to visit Allan Gardens to see the spring bulbs!
These watercolour sandals from DSW Canada are perfect for summer. I love the graphic watercolour/graffiti print, it’s definitely edgy and completely different. What I really love about these heels are the fun leather tassles. Tassles and pom poms are a trendy detail, so keep your eye out while you’re shopping. I think these heels will also go well with a pair of skinny jeans and a white tee, or to jazz up a plain white dress this summer. The warm weather has me excited for more fun summer fashion to come!
If you live in Toronto, I urge you to go visit Allan Gardens and see the blooming tulips, daffodils and hyacinth. The scent alone is so heady and wonderful, but I adore the gorgeous colours… it’s also great rain or shine. We took a stroll through the gardens, and marvelled at the 23 turtles living in the orchid garden. It’s definitely a little oasis in the middle of downtown.
When I met up with my boyfriend, he exclaimed, “What are you wearing!? You look like a flower!” Essentially, that’s what I was going for. After months of a sweater and jeans combo, black and greys, this outfit felt like a big departure from the previous season. To pull off a purple midi skirt, I think a pair of heels is a must. I also opted for a t-shirt style top to balance out the voluminous proportions of the skirt.
I can’t wait to see my garden grow, and maybe set up some condo balcony plants. I managed to get my orchid to re-bloom from the fall, so maybe I don’t have such a brown thumb after all. Until then, I’ll keep dressing like a flower.
