Next Friday, the most anticipated movie of 2015 will hit the big screen – Fifty Shades of Grey. I read the first book a while back, and can’t wait to see Jamie Dornan take on the role (I have a thing for guys with dark hair and light eyes). I was super excited to be able to review the Make Up For Ever Fifty Shades of Grey collection, which is available now at Sephora and Make Up For Ever boutiques. I will also be sharing two beauty looks I created using the Make Up For Ever Fifty Shades of Grey collection!
First off I will review the Tease Me Lip Set, $38, which features a trio of Make Up For Ever’s top lip products. The Innocent trio features an Aqua Lip Pencil in Medium Natural Beige, which is the perfect nude waterproof liner and can work with any lipstick colour. It also comes with the Aqua Rouge lipstick in 3 Medium Natural Beige, Clear, which is a double ended liquid lipstick. I am absolutely in love with this moody, mauve nude. It looks great with fair skin for a vampy look, but now that I have more of a tan, I find that it’s very flattering as well in the winter months. The colour lasts and lasts, so it’s a great date lipstick if you don’t want to have to reapply. Lastly, the Tease Me Lip Set comes with a Lab Shine lip gloss in D16 Shimmering Beige, which is a neutral, shimmery gloss. I layer it over dark lipstick, or on my naked lips for a bit of shine. The Tease Me Lip Set is a great value, especially since all three products are full sized.
The Give In To Me Make Up Kit, $90 is my favourite in the Make Up For Ever Fifty Shades of Grey collection. The packaging is incredibly luxurious. There’s a picture of Dakota Johnson & Jamie Dornan on the cover, and inside the cardboard box is a pretty black and pink makeup box. I expected to have a grey colour scheme of the makeup box to match the outer packaging, but I intend to use this makeup box for pretty storage. My favourite part is the little silver key detail inside, which opens and reveals more storage space below (and is perfect for my favourite eyeliners collection)!
As for the products, my favourite is the Artist Shadow palette in I-514, ME-612, S-556, I-625. I am obsessed with neutral eyeshadow and these four colours offer a bit of variety in my look, without going too far. The green and taupe colours are just fabulous! I think the Make Up For Ever Fifty Shades of Grey collection dropped the ball a bit with their colour selection, and could have opted for a great selection of grey shades for a true “50 Shades of Grey”. However, the makeup collection was inspired by the movie, and I could definitely see Anastasia Steele wearing these neutral shades.
The Give In To Me Make Up Kit also features the Graphic Liner, which is great for a quick and easy cat eye (mine didn’t budge in the Cancun heat!) and a travel sized Smoky Extravagant mascara.
For lips, the set features Rouge Artist Natural lipstick in N4 and Lab Shine lip gloss in D14. I wore both these lip products together, and love the glossy, rosy look! I don’t usually wear a glossy lip, but the non-sticky formula has me converted.
Here is the first look I created with the collection (please excuse the bad quality selfie!). For my eyes, I’m wearing the lightest colour on my browbone, and the medium colour on my lid, and did a thin line with the graphic liner and light mascara. For my lips, I’m wearing the Aqua Rouge lipstick in 3 Medium Natural Beige alone.
For the second look, featuring the Make Up For Ever Fifty Shades of Grey collection, I used three eyeshadow colours on my eyes (all of them, except for the green), drew a cat eye with the graphic liner, and two coats of Smoky Extravagant. On my lips, I wore both the Rouge Artist Natural lipstick in N4 and Lab Shine lip gloss in D14. This is the perfect Valentine’s Day look because it isn’t too overdone but still has a sexy, retro vibe.
The Make Up For Ever Fifty Shades of Grey collection was inspired by the movie, and features sultry nude shades of eye shadows and lip products. I think both sets are great values and feature versatile every day colours.
I saw these sets at Sephora and have been dying to try them! These products look absolutely beautiful !
