Yesterday, on my way to visit the Louvre, I crossed the famous Pont des Arts over the Seine. The bridge was completely covered with locks, that lovers attach to the bridge and throw the keys into the waters of the river Seine below.
This practice is observed all around the world, but there is something especially romantic about doing something so eternally romantic in the city of romance. But seriously, it’s really cute. I couldn’t help but take so many photos of all the memories people left behind to commemorate their joy.
What was incredible about this bridge was that all of the locks were cut off in May of 2010, yet so many lovebirds have flocked to the bridge and have already filled up the chain link fence.
This was obviously my favourite lock by far.
The bridge is an engineering feat, and was the first metal bridge in Paris. Completed in 1804, the famous bridge has been pictured in many famous films and TV shows, including Sex and the City and Amelie.
It’s true… We’ll always have Paris.
