Isabel Marant for H&M

I’ve already marked November 14 on my calendar… the date for the launch of Isabel Marant for H&M. You heard that right. The French designer, known for her casual and trendy street pieces will be bringing a collection to the mass retailer, complete with accessories and her first-ever men’s line! The designer is excited for the collaboration as we are.

Marant says, “I am flattered by this collaboration. H&M works with the best designers, and this invitation is an exciting honor. I aim at creating something real – something women want to wear in their everyday lives – with a certain carefree style. I think this is very Parisian: You dress up, but don’t pay too much attention to it, and you still look sexy. The collection is infused with this kind of easiness and attitude. Everything can be combined following one’s own instincts, and my take on fashion is all about personality.”

Expect to find Marant’s signature prints, tailored pants and refined bohemian flair, as well as kicking off the phenomena of the wedge sneaker. Like it or not, the wedge sneaker elevated Marant to an internationally-known streetwear designer. I for one am really excited to see what she will design for men. Rumors were circling that the fast-fashion retailer was going to hook up with Ricardo Tisci and Givenchy, but after the disaster that was the Maison Martin Margiela collection, I think it’s wise to avoid melding high fashion with high street fashion. Marant’s blend of sexy, youthful street clothes are a much better match with H&M, and definitely easier to reproduce at that price point. You can probably expect to see a discount pair of wedge sneakers in there too!

The collection will launch in November at 250 select H&M stores worldwide. See you in line!
