Happy Sweet Sixteen Rosie

My dog Rosie is more than just a dog, I think of her like my little sister. I had to make a special post for her today because she is turning sixteen years old! I feel like it was yesterday that we brought the precocious pomapoo home and I slept with her in my arms in the basement.

I remember her puppy years like it was a constant battle to keep her contained in our yard and from digging her way out. It’s funny how now she’s glued to my mom and boyfriend as if she’s their shadow! I also remember her stealing my Barbie dolls and going rogue on cheese… and the time she ate 1/2 of a brie wheel.

Every summer, we’ve had some amazing times at the cottage, cuddling on the sofa watching reruns or showing our best duds at the Coe Hill Fair’s Strut your Mutt costume contest (which she ALWAYS wins!)

Along the way, she’s made many furry friends. She’s also been a mommy to Stella, an abandoned kitty we adopted in 2009, who also has her own Instagram account.

I also remember the time Rosie and I made it on the CTV Toronto nightly news! Of course she needed to have her own cameo 😛

Of course, she is always my little partner in crime, and I’m so grateful for all the joy she brings to my life! Happy birthday sweet girl. Also, if you’re looking for your own best friend, I urge you to consider a rescue. There are so many sweet animals in need of a home, and make great pets too. I couldn’t imagine my life without my rescue cats and hope to always spread the message of adoption.
