Guerlain is a beauty house that evokes nostalgic memories for me. As a little girl, I would steal little pearls from my mom’s Météorites Powder pearls, and to me, they were more precious than real pearls. I still remember the inimitable smell and texture of this luxurious product. I still use the pearls on special occasions today. The classic brand is back with some exciting products, and I’m here to share a Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Makeup review and an exciting giveaway with you!
I’m also excited to establish this post as the first of a “Makeup Mondays” series. Every Monday, I will be sharing beauty tips, new products and tutorials. There will also be giveaways… including a Guerlain giveaway on my Instagram here.
Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Makeup review
Guerlain’s La Petite Robe Noire makeup collection launched last spring with a line of lipsticks and nail polish shades that are more colourful and edgy. I tested out some products from this range, including some new shades that will launch in April 2017 at Sephora.
First off, I am absolutely in LOVE with the Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Deliciously Shiny Lip Color lipsticks. After so many years of harsh liquid matte lipsticks, these are juicy, colourful and delicious. The colour is pigmented, yet sheer. Think of them as an enhancement for your lips. They also leave a bit of a stain, so I find they wear well if you don’t reapply right away.
From left to right, I tested out 073 Orchid Beanie, a pinky purple, 23 Ruby Ring, a cherry red and 043 Sun-Glasses, a poppy orange. My favourite was the purple/pink Orchid lipstick. It was so flattering and very pretty with a mauve cranberry eye I’ve been wearing a lot. It really brightens up a sad winter complexion!
These lipsticks have a strong, sweet, fruity scent. They are very energizing. I find putting this on during classtime gives me a little boost. Most of all, I am absolutely in love with the clear packaging. It has such a stunning effect on your vanity.
Next, I tested out the new Lip & Cheek Tint. Don’t judge a book by its cover, this bright highlighter coloured bottle contains a sheer, rosy cheek tint. I found it too light to do much for the lips, but it looks beautiful on the apples of the cheeks and has a softer version of the fruity scent in the lipsticks. What I like about this product is that it’s very blendable. I don’t usually use cheek tints because they dry down too fast and look too obvious on my fair skin tone, but this one was perfect.
Guerlain’s La Petite Robe Noire Lash Dress Mascara features an innovative wand with a spiked end that can be used on inner corner lashes or to deposit more product for a more volumized look. Again, the packaging just wins me over.
Last, I tested out the La Petite Robe Noire Deliciously Shiny Nail Lacquer in shade 069 Lilac Belt. I still have shellac on my fingers, so I will update this post once I have it removed. The nail polish is currently on my toes and I love the opacity of the product. You can almost get away with one coat. I also appreciated that the brush is curved, which made it super easy to do one swipe on my toes! I will report back with how long it lasts soon too.
The lipsticks and some of the new shades I featured are launching soon at Sephora Canada, so keep your eyes peeled. In the mean time, I am hosting an incredible giveaway with Guerlain to giveaway $100 worth of Guerlain products to THREE lucky winners! Enter the giveaway on my Instagram here.
