Florence has a unique charm. With the cartoonish Ponte Vecchio smiling at the city, the small delicious trattorias, and the smell of leather wafting from the San Lorenzo market… the city is full of character and culture.
On my last day in Florence, I wore a leopard dress, Salvatore Ferragamo Vara Bow flats and a new lavender bag picked up in Florence.
One of my little dreams came true that day… I visited the Salvatore Ferragamo headquarters, their flagship store in the Palazzo Spini Feroni. I visited the boutique, and sadly, they didn’t have the colour of Vara bow flats I was looking for. But my favourite part of my visit was the Ferragamo museum. Newly renovated, the museum is up to date and filled with historical shoes from Ferragamo’s illustrious career as a shoemaker to the stars. I literally died over seeing wooden shoe lasts from stars like Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn. My favourite part of the museum though, was seeing his original prototypes from the 1930s and 40s. It made me appreciate the designer more, and his influence on style. It’s also evident that modern-day designers like Jeffrey Campbell are following in Ferragamo’s footsteps.
I didn’t pick up any shoes at the flagship, but I couldn’t leave without picking up a memento of my visit. I bought this beautiful notebook with a shoe print, which is available online.
Afterwards, I headed up to the Piazza Michelangelo for a stunning view of the Tuscan city.
I will never forget this stunning view of the city, close to sunset. We took the long way back, through residential streets. Even though my feet ached, I will never regret peaking into the backyards of Tuscan homes and smelling delicious dinners being prepared from authentic Italian kitchens.
My bag is also a piece of Firenze. My boyfriend bought it for me at Michelangelo Leather in Florence, right off the San Lorenzo market. The bag has gorgeous patina handles and an amazing texture! I can’t wait to come home and wear this baby all summer!
To finish off my feminine look, I wore this floral necklace from H&M.
Even though the water was brown, the Ponte Vecchio and Florence was unforgettably beautiful. I will miss it, almost as much as the dried pomodori.
