Clarins Spring 2017: Skincare review

clarins spring 2017 products (1 of 8) It's currently -9C in Ottawa, and over the past few chilly weeks, I've completely fallen in love with the new Hydra-Essentiel line. Every other day, I use the Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Silky Cream for Normal to Combination skin. This cream is incredibly lightweight but very refreshing. It works great overnight after cleansing the face, but is light enough to wear under makeup as well. I take a pea sized amount with a q-tip and spread it over my face and neck, and my skin feels plump and silky smooth. I've noticed that I no longer have flaky skin around my nose! This product is scented, however I find the scent to be gentle and very lovely! clarins spring 2017 products (2 of 8) About two times a week, I increase the moisture factor with the Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Bi-Phase Serum. I put this on at night under the cream to really quench my dry winter skin. I don't like to use this everyday, as I find it can be too much. A couple of times a week is perfect for me.

March blues

Winter just doesn't give up, it's easy to say we all have a case of March blues. This teal faux fur coat is the perfect cure for gloomy weather! I wore this piece back in Toronto for a chic, yet simple outfit. Layered over a little black dress, a teal faux fur coat adds some much-needed colour and warmth. teal faux fur coat (6 of 8) teal faux fur coat (4 of 8) I wore a vintage teal faux fur coat (similar faux fur coat here), a black knit dress, a leather Kate Spade Belt, suede Myranda boots c/o La Canadienne (also available at Nordstrom here), and a classic Chanel double flap bag from Luxe Touch Designer Consignment. [show_shopthepost_widget id="2515499"]   This is the perfect going out outfit. While a little black dress is timeless, a colourful coat adds personality. Faux fur toppers are a huge trend right now, and the extended winter weather is the perfect excuse to get some use out of them! This coat is vintage (it's from Le Chateau actually!) but there are many options available at budget retailers, in case you're afraid of investing in the trend. I found a near perfect dupe from ASOS and it's on sale!

Gosh Makeup Review

I'm always looking to try different beauty brands to incorporate into my routine. I wanted to share this GOSH makeup review of some of their products from their Fall/Winter line. I love that GOSH is certified cruelty-free, and available at Shoppers Drug Mart. The quality is incredible, with strong pigmentation, and a blendable formulation. Here are some of my favourite GOSH makeup products, as well as a beauty look incorporating some of these items. gosh cosmetics winter collection (1 of 7) gosh makeup (1 of 3) I also fell in LOVE with the 9 Shade palette, To be Cool in Cophenhagen. This palette is a matte shadow DREAM. Lately, matte eyeshadow palettes have been in the spotlight, but this affordable iteration contains all cool-tones that blend together for seamless, smoky looks. I love every single colour in this palette, and have been using it a lot. I like that you can create a cool, purpley taupe eye, as well as a muted beige eye, and a classic silver/grey smokey look too. It's very versatile and I love that the pans are close together and full of product. This palette is very compact and slim for travel, and has a great mirror. I've been recommending it to a few friends that are a bit tired of warm matte shadows! Especially on cool-toned people, this one looks amazing, and compliments grey, blue, black and hazel eyes especially.

How to wear Blundstones and look chic

In Canada, our winters are long, icy and cold. A good pair of boots will keep you going throughout the season, but there’s no reason to sacrifice style. I’ve wanted a pair of Blundstone boots for a while, as they are practical, made of waterproof leather and look more streamlined than most winter boots. I always asked myself, how to…

How to dress for winter and cold weather

Just when you think the temperatures are going up, old man winter swoops in and reminds us we live in Canada and it's only March. It's currently -9 degrees celcius, but feels closer to -15 outside. So, how to dress for winter without looking like a Michelin man? Here are some tips to look stylish in cold weather, as well as some product recommendations. how to dress for cold weather (1 of 5) First, I'm going to talk about your first layer. In cold weather, I like wearing Uniqlo Heattech tights under a pair of pants for extra protection. If it's really bad out, I will layer those under fleece-lined leggings, then put boyfriend jeans on top. Here, I've worn Uniqlo Heat Tech tights with a pair of thick, polyester dress pants from Zara. Jeans are a useless layer in winter, so look for tightly woven synthetics, or even better, wool pants. I'm wearing a Uniqlo Heattech fleece turtleneck, and trust me, it's one of the warmest items I own. I love that this piece is stylish and on-trend, but is made of technical fabric. It looks great paired here with a cute pair of printed pants, but also works with casual leggings or jeans too. Underneath the turtle neck, I'm wearing a Heattech tank camisole as well for added insulation. I love layering those tanks under tops and blouses because they add no bulk! They really trap your body heat in, especially when you start moving. [show_shopthepost_widget id="2478332"]
