Bite Beauty Lipstick: Amuse Bouche review and swatches

I’m a huge fan of Bite Beauty lipstick. The Canadian brand is made of natural ingredients and leaves your lips moisturized and soft… the colour ranges are also so unique. I nearly lost it when I got my hands on shades from the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche collection. Featuring six shades for both Savory and Sweet. Inspired by food, this Bite Beauty lipstick collection is completely unique on the market. Keep reading the post to see my thoughts on each colour…and for some Bite beauty swatches from the Amuse Bouche collection.

The collection is divided into two sections – Sweet and Savory featuring six shades for each. The Amuse Bouche Sweet and Savory collection was inspired by contrasting flavours – from sweet lavender jam to hearty kale.

The sweet collection features six shades: Mollasses, Thistle, Spritzer, Lavender Jam, Taro and Souffle. I was sent Bite Beauty’s Thistle, Taro,Lavender Jam, and Souffle to test out.

My favourites from the sweet collection are Taro and Thistle. Thistle is a permanent addition to the Bite Beauty lipstick shade family, but Taro is a limited edition shade – so get it at Sephora while you can!

Thistle is a beautiful greige with a purple hint, that I found surprisingly flattering on my lips. It’s one of those neutral/nude shades that’s super trendy right now, but the hint of purple adds more dimension, so you don’t get the dreaded “corpse lips.”

Bite Taro lipstick is a complete standout – I’ve never seen a colour like this before! It isn’t your everyday purple. It looks amazing with a brown smokey eye or with warm eyeshadow.

I wasn’t a huge fan of both Souffle and Lavender Jam. I found both of them difficult to apply, in that the pigment didn’t spread over my lips and the colour felt too pastel and artificial with my fair, freckled skin. I think these colours would be much better suited for someone with an olive or darker skin tone, however, I do love how unique they are!

Amuse Bouche Savory Collection Review

The savory collection from Bite Beauty features six shades: Liquorice, Kale, Nori, Whiskey, Squid Ink and Black Truffle. I had a chance to review and test out Whiskey, Kale and Squid Ink:

Whiskey is a beautiful, rich, brown shade. It reminds me more of cacao than whiskey, but is universally flattering. It smoothed on like a dream, and left my lips highly pigmented.

Surprisingly, I was also a huge fan of Kale, a deep emerald lipstick that would be great for a night out or costume party. It’s definitely not for everyday wear.

I wasn’t a huge fan of Squid Ink because it left my lips stained! Kale was fine when I removed it with a waterproof makeup remover wipe, while the sapphire Squid Ink shade left my lips stained for a whole day! I also found the colour to be patchy when applied to my lips. Nevertheless, it’s an extremely rich sapphire shade.

Overall, I really enjoyed the inspiration behind this collection. It’s definitely not for everybody or everyday wear, but I admire how and indie beauty company from Canada took a risk in such a bold direction. If you’re looking for a unique shade, the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Sweet and Savory collection is definitely worth checking out. The rich, hydrating formula infused with natural oils and a refreshing citrus scent will care for your lips as we approach the fall season. It’s seriously high time we ditch matte drying formulas!
