Anna Dello Russo for H&M

Come October, I’m ready to take a fashion shower. Editor-at-large at Vogue Japan, Anna Dello Russo, fashion fanatic extraordinaire, is launching her accessory line at fast-fashion retailer, H&M. I love designer collaborations at H&M and this one is no exception.

Full of OTT (over-the-top) pieces gilded in gold, accented by rhinestones and enamel the jewelry and accessories line is gaudy in a so bad it’s good way.

Dello Russo wears the accessories in her video promoting the collection, where she raps to “Fashion Shower.” She teaches viewers fashion lessons including, you can by stylish at any age, it doesn’t matter what your size is, and if someone is wearing the same thing as you, good! They made the right choice. I feel that Russo has a feerless, fun attitude to fashion. She loves the whimsy and fantasy and doesn’t take it too seriously, which I respect.

My favourite pieces from the line is the travel case. US pricing indicates it will be $149, but I’m sure that Canada will jack up the cost to $175 at least. It’s stunning in turquoise, gilded with a gold frame. I can see it accompanying me on many trips to come.

I’m also in love with the alligator necklace (it’s almost as daring as the panther leather collar from last year’s Versace for H&M collection) and the matching gator glasses. They are a true statement piece that add a little spice to your wardrobe. I’m not a fan of completely burying yourself in gilded accessories, but a statement necklace or a killer pair of heels always makes the outfit and Anna knows that.

Also on my wishlist is the turquoise box clutch, which features a dog clasp modeled after Anna’s dog, Cucciolina. US prices say it’s $39.95, which will mean in Canada, it will likely be $49.95, a steal for a statement evening bag!

Of course, the collection will be sold at select H&M stores, which in Toronto, means that the Yorkville, Yorkdale and Eaton Centre stores will carry the exclusive line.

Russo recently told the Coveteur, “Nothing succeeds like excess.” We just have to wait and see if that statement will be true for this collection come October.
