It’s almost hard to believe that almost a year ago, I visited Paris with my family. I had always dreamed of visiting the City of Light, drinking wine in Montmartre and seeing art at the Louvre. I was going through photos over the weekend, and realized that this time last year, I was enjoying macarons at Laduree and walking along the Seine. In a city where every corner looks like a postcard, it’s easy to get nostalgic about the sights and sounds of Paris. Here are some photos from my trip.
Throughout the trip, I wore this salmon-pink wool coat from V&D in Utrecht. I loved the contrasting black piping, and the bright colour. I accessorized with an Hermes scarf, and a citron-coloured saddle bag. Cross-body bags are essential for being a tourist, but I love the trendy colour and shape of this one… it’s not your average LeSportsac.
Notre Dame de Paris was a beautiful sight. I was obsessed with the Hunchback of Notre Dame when I was little, so it was magical to catch the church right before evening mass, and as the sun was setting. We ate dinner around the corner, and while the food sucked (tip: never eat near tourist attractions), it was inexpensive and the view was beautiful.
We also visited Versailles, and it was a gorgeous day trip, only a 20 minute train ride away from Paris.
Paris… a modern city with a history, steeped in culture and beauty wherever you look. I hope I will have the chance to come back and take more time to take in more galleries, shop and even take an afternoon to sit by the Seine and sketch the people and boats going by.
