Vintage Shopping in Montreal

Vintage Shopping in Montreal

Over the weekend, I visited Montreal and got a tour from the lovely Marie-Eve of Forever Sui and saw some of Montreal’s best vintage shops. On the way, I fell in love with some of the gorgeous apartments in the Mont Royal area.

This house was just made for me… From the elegant, curvaceous iron staircase, the Tiffany stained glass, to the teal-painted accents, it was just gorgeous. I had to take a picture with the house, because I felt like my outfit fit in with the residential setting.

My dress is from Urban Outfitters, my teal necklace is from Forever 21 and my burgundy shoes are Zigi (similar here).

It wasn’t planned, but I feel like my outfit matches this dreamhouse, from the teal accents in my necklace to the art deco embroidery. I feel that the flapper fringe also captures the Art Nouveau elegance of this house.

After snapping some photos, Marie took me to Stewarts Vintage, a tiny shop off the main Mont Royal strip located at 4482 Rue Fabre. The shop had beautiful pieces in the front window, and welcomed us in.

Inside, was a highly curated collection of items from the 1920s to 1980s, with stunning accessories and baubles. The shop is sadly closing in July, so the owner informed us that everything is 30 per cent off, with hats and jewelry at 50 per cent off.

I loved looking at the baubles, and loved her jewelry and handbag displays. I ended up buying a vintage made in Canada teal snakeskin purse (photo to come) and a trinket for my Mother (top secret!)

The shop was reasonably priced to begin with, but the added discount made my purchases even more sweet. The owner was very knowledgeable and used to live in Toronto’s beaches where she collected a lot of jewelry.

Out of the three stores I visited, this one was my favourite. The prices were very good and the selection was easy to see and in line with my tastes. If I’m back in Montreal before July, I definitely plan on stopping by to pick up another handbag or accessory.

Wow yes indeed, that house is amazing! I want to live there haha 🙂 and it fits to your outfit. I like it when the place also says something about the outfit, it’s much more exciting than all those stylists and models who only take pictures in front of a white wall.

Thanks so much Anna! This happened totally by accident, so I think my outfit and that house was meant to be. If I end up moving to Montreal, I will have to live near that house just so I can admire it!

Hahaha that would be nice, maybe you can print a pic of the house and pin it at the wall above your bed.. 😉
