For reading week, my family and I headed south, to Florida and spent a week living with Mickey Mouse. We didn’t know that my reading week coincided with President’s Day in the U.S., so all the hotels booked up and we ended up staying in a character-themed resort, Disney’s All Star Music. I didn’t mind the motel-style accomodations because the hotel itself (complete with a piano-shaped pool) was delightfully tacky. Think of a walk-up Floridian hotel with giant jukeboxes, cowboy boots and all sorts of odd figures ushering you into the room. It’s so Disney.
This look was inspired by the 50s style rock and roll location we stayed in. The Rock Inn was definitely the cutest part of the complex, with its peach-coloured buildings and massive guitars and jukeboxes.
I’m wearing the most amazing cat shirt, c/o Nowistyle. I love the graphic black and white, and wanted to pair it with a mod skirt. My pink mini was found on the sale rack at H&M, and I adore the 60s style flower doily pattern. For accessories, I’m wearing cat-eye sunglasses c/o Stylize at Shoppers Drugmart, and the newest addition to my shoe closet, my pink Prada pumps.
These pumps are to die for. I found them in the Premium Outlets Vineland location, only 10 minutes away from Disney by cab. I fell in love with the simple platform design and feminine colour. I’ve lusted over a pair of nude or pink-coloured Prada pumps for a while, and this style, Vernice in patent Orchidea is timeless. They had two sizes left, one for me in size nine, and one for my sister. It was definitely fate. She plans on wearing hers with her Betsey Johnson prom dress.
I fell in love with this cat shirt. Maybe it’s the crazy cat lady in me, but cat details have been a huge trend recently. This shirt brings in the cat element in a more subtle way, without having to wear a silkscreened cat tee. Just like the eponymous Charlotte Olympia cat flats, this shirt adds a cute touch to a basic wardrobe element. I also added some glitz with a collar necklace from H&M.
In an outfit like this, it’s impossible not to be happy and have fun. I am in Disneyworld after all…
I love everything about this! Your vision for this post was spot-on. The whimsical outfit, the balloons, the Pop Century resort. It’s all perfect!
I haven’t been to Magic Kingdom since I was 8 (which is a really weird thing for a Miamian). I barely remember it. I do, of course, remember the magical feeling of seeing Cinderella’s castle. I remember Minnie’s house and It’s a Small World (that was my favorite ride). I remember feeling the most exhausted I’ve ever felt in my life there. Ok, I guess I remember more than I thought. Lol. I’m planning on going this summer or winter. Hopefully I get to relive my childhood this year. 🙂
I have friends and family who always stay at this hotel. My cousins say their favorite is the sports one and the 60’s pop culture one.
