Now that it’s January, I’m already getting tired of plain, black parkas. To spice it up a little, a plaid winter coat is a great way to inject some personality into your cold weather wardrobe. I wore this plaid winter coat from Zara with skinny jeans and a scarf for a casual off-duty look.
I’m wearing a plaid winter coat from Zara (old, similar here), t-shirt from J. Crew (40% off with code MUSTSHOP), ripped jeans with patches from Marshalls (similar patch jeans here), booties from Sam Edelman, and a Mackage crossbody bag.
I wore this look for a weekend of exploring the city with my friend Sabina. She’s also a blogger at Vita and Moda and, coincidentally, also wore a plaid winter coat that day! Check out her blog post here. I’m in love with the monochrome look. She also said that her Forever 21 plaid coat (here’s a similar version) is super warm!
Even though my plaid coat is open, I added a thick black scarf to keep me warm. Now that it’s even colder, I would save this particular coat as a dinner/going out coat and pair it with a cashmere turtleneck (I love Uniqlo’s). Even though it’s not the most practical, I love how festive it is, and that it can be dressed up or down.
Ripped jeans with patches are a huge trend right now. I love going the DIY route, but the price for these were irresistible. I’ve been collecting a bunch of patches, so I look forward to sharing more patched up pieces soon.
