How to do a fishtail braid in under 5 minutes

One of my favourite hairstyles in the summertime is a fishtail braid. Casual yet elegant, this hairstyle is an upgrade on a simple plait. Fishtail braids are great for the summer or when you’re out on the water, to keep flyaway strands away from your face, and when you take them out, you’ll get perfect crimped beach waves. If you’re not sure how to do a fishtail braid on yourself, it’s super simple and takes no time at all. Here’s a how-to video to achieve the look in under five minutes.

I wore this easy going braid hairstyle for a date in Kensington Market. We started at Hibiscus, a vegan and gluten free restaurant with delicious buckwheat crepes. While the restaurant was hot and steamy, the food was refreshing and scrumptious. I love savoury crepes, but will definitely be back to please my sweet tooth.

Next, we walked around the neighbourhood and popped into a couple vintage shops.

I fell in love with this house’s old red iron gate and fuschia roses. I thought they complimented the crimson colours in my outfit.

I’m wearing the Baja zip-up bustier and red skirt (similar here) from Forever 21, sunglasses from Black Market on Queen Street, and a leather saddle bag from Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

It was so hot, we didn’t last long before retiring to a patio with a pitcher of Mojitos. The perfect way to spend a steamy, smoggy Tuesday in the city.
