This weekend, Toronto hosted the 2014 MMVAs which brought in international talent like Lorde, Ariana Grande and Imagine Dragons. I was invited to check out the Vocab Lounge – a gifting lounge for media, talent and attendees to the 2014 MMVAs. From makeup to candy sushi, there were tons of cool vendors and products. Here are some of my favourites from the Vocab Lounge 2014 MMVAs.
I fell in love with Mary Kay Cosmetics’ summer line. I have been wearing their True Dimensions lipstick in Sassy Fuchsia non stop, because it has a sheer feel, yet a lot of pigment. The Mary Kay at Play line also has a lot of summer-ready options including coloured liquid eyeliner and glossy tinted lip balm.
I’ve heard of Luxebox before, and have been interested in a makeup subscription for a while, but I was definitely impressed with the variety, sizes and pretty packaging of the Luxebox. The box is delivered seasonally, and they often partner up with magazines like LOU LOU to bring a collection of the newest and hottest items! Guests could sip on juice by the Raw Juice Guru (I loved their beet one!) and I had a chance to taste Brickworks cider, a new cider made from Ontario apples and brewed in Toronto. I love that it tastes dry (almost like real beer), and as a celiac, I can’t have beer but am worried about all the sugars in regular cider. A common brand has over 35g of sugar, but Brickworks only has 7g! The product will be available in the LCBO soon, so I’m saving one can for the cottage this weekend until it’s available!
There were also snacks, and I fell in love with these creative, handmade candy sushi by Sweet Sushi. They can do custom orders, so you can capture your childhood memories with your favourite candy (Fruit-Roll up seaweed meets Gushers centre?) for an event.
Another creative idea was Kings of Past. This eyewear company sells vintage sunglasses, made in Europe from high-end designer brands… but here’s the catch- they’re new. Instead of rifling through bins at Goodwill, this company’s selection is curated and very high end!
After the lounge, I managed to catch Lorde rehearse her MMVA set. She was amazing, and was very into her music, dancing and performing full force. I was pretty close and loved seeing her perform!
To the event, I wore a brushstroke print shirt c/o Persunmall, a slit maxi skirt from Forever 21, a statement necklace, my 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target bag and my Dolce Vita Archer sandals.
