Last Friday at the shOws, I had a chance to see Jean-Pierre Braganza, an amazing design talent from Toronto who has been showing at London Fashion Week.
I was obsessed with his artistry and the tailoring in his garments. The cut-outs and decoupages created architectural elements that enlivened simple day dresses.
Geometric elements were consistent throughout the collection, with hexagonal prints on a dress and strong suiting.
The show ended with softer gowns, but the draping techniques were more controlled, creating definite geometric shapes. The two black gowns were drab, but I loved the pops of crimson as well.
My favourite part about this collection were the shoes! They were works of art in themselves, with each shoe corresponding perfectly to the outfit on the model.
The show ended with Braganza coming on the runway with his daughter, Raven, the audience erupted into a chorus of “Awws”, while the “oohs” were reserved for his stunning collection.
