This Wednesday, we visited the Sakura in High Park to catch the cherry trees in full bloom. It was a perfect day, and while it was packed with people it was still so serene and magical under a canopy of pale pink blossoms.
I’m wearing a pink waterfall trench, fringe dress from Urban Outfitters (similar here), Dolce & Gabbana almond flower sunglasses, espadrilles from Target, a Baby Groove satchel bag from Marc by Marc Jacobs and a St Andrews Lady watch c/o Daniel Wellington.

Every year, the cherry blossoms attract thousands of visitors, and is a great place to snap pictures or enjoy a picnic. To catch the buds in full bloom, I tracked them online and checked out Instagram and Twitter… I’m glad I went on Wednesday before Friday’s insane heat wave. There wasn’t a single petal on the ground and the temperature was perfect for a long stroll. It’s one of my dreams to experience the sakura bloom in Japan, but for now, High Park is still a magical sight to see!
I couldn’t resist wearing my new Dolce & Gabbana Almond Flower sunglasses… the little cherry blossom print matched the scenery perfect! I wasn’t sure about the shape of these glasses at first, but now, the oversized, rounded cat-eye frame is feeling very glamorous and dramatic! I definitely like wearing them with this girly waterfall trench and pastel accessories, to keep within the glasses’ colour scheme.
After a leisurely walk and picture taking, we sat down for a snack and I fell in love with this nine-month-old Maltipoo puppy. He reminded me so much of my dog, Rosie, when she was a baby and I couldn’t help snap a pic of a puppy prancing around the park. If your dog can behave (mine thinks she’s a cat and loves people, hates other dogs), High Park is a great place to bring your entire family – including your furry ones. I’d love to bring my cat – Stella (she has an Instagram btw), but she’s not leash trained yet and likely will never be.
We were so happy to get a picture together… so many people were carrying selfie sticks (I don’t own one, and probably never will), but we exchanged a photo opp with a woman and her mom. The sakura in High Park would be a lovely way to spend Mother’s Day in Toronto, either for a family picnic or walk. Make sure to bring your camera to capture this very special time of year! If you haven’t already… enter to win a Mom necklace from Helen Ficalora in time for Mother’s Day! You can find the entry form here.
PS! If you are free this afternoon (Saturday May 9), make sure to stop by Hudson’s Bay Yorkdale for the Design Lab launch event from 2-4! There will be a braid bar, YSL makeup artist, treats and a chance to win a $1500 gift certificate! I hope you can stop by and say hello 🙂
I’m wishing everyone a Happy early Mother’s Day this weekend. Thank you moms for all you do.
Thanks for sharing such beautiful photos and a stylish outfit. Great post.
