I wore this pink coat and grey hat combo on the first day of New York Fashion Week. Last Thursday, it was slightly warmer than the weekend, so that I could wear my coat open and skip the Ultra Light Down and scarf! My turtleneck sweater kept me warm as the winds picked up, but it was a constant struggle to keep my hat from flying away down 33rd street.
I was so excited to attend NYFW this season, and while I was tempted to wear something daring and outrageous, I wanted to stick to a classic look in my favourite soft, pastel tones. This look is all about my pink coat, and from watching other attendees, NYFW in February is all about outerwear. In winter, our coats and jackets are one of the only ways we get to express our style, so seeing fabulous fur, shearling jackets and architectural wool coats was a definite style inspiration for me.
I’m wearing a faux fur pink wool coat from Zara (similar pink coat here), grey turtleneck from Old Navy, zipper leggings from Zara (similar leggings here), over the knee suede boots from Zara (similar suede boots here), a grey wool hat from Winners (similar here) and my Alexander Wang prisma backpack with a pink faux fur pompom.

This Alexander Wang backpack was the perfect fashion week companion. It was so roomy I could stash away my DSLR, snacks and a water bottle on the go. TheĀ feminine rosegold hardware also makes this black bag very unique.
I loved this pink coat and grey hat combo so much, because the light grey didn’t overpower the pastel colour of my coat and had a bit more of a springtime vibe. I also had fun playing with textures, layering the faux fur with a knit sweater, suede boots and a pebbled leather purse. Layering and mixing pieces is always a hit at fashion week, but I like how this look was restrained and still felt very elegant.
I’m excited to share more of my ootd’s from fashion week, as well as show coverage, so stay tuned over the coming couple weeks! And also, don’t forget to enter my Valentine’s Day giveaway!
