Contouring is everywhere. Ever since Kim K and beauty bloggers started sharing the secrets to get a DIY nose job, every make up artist and brand have hopped on the trend. Today, I’m sharing a Make Up For Ever Pro Sculpting Collection review. I’m not a huge fan of the heavily contoured look, but these projects are perfect for getting a natural, flawless defined look. I wanted to share how the entire process, from start to finish, as well as some tips for pulling off a natural contour makeup look.
Here are all the products I used:
Step 1: Prep the base
A good contour starts with a great foundation! I started off this contour look by prepping my skin with my favourite moisturizer. Once I let that sink in, I grabbed my new favourite beauty product – Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer in R22 and Y23. The first colour is more peach and cancels out dark circles, while the second colour is illuminating.
Next, I wet my beautyblender and pat on some Make Up For Ever HD Foundation in shade R210. I love how this foundation gives tons of coverage so I can skip heavy concealer, and stays put all day. Once I set it with a powder, it’s luminous and very natural. As you can see from the second photo to the right, you can’t immediately detect my blemishes right away! It’s amazing to be able to skip the concealer routine from time to time.
Step 2. Make Up For Ever Pro Sculpting Brow
Next, I groom my brows with the spooly end of the Make Up For Ever Pro Sculpting Brow. This ensures that all the hairs are in place before defining them. Then, on the other end of the product is the pencil. It’s more of a hybrid between a pencil, a powder and a wax. I find it looks incredibly natural, and while it takes some getting used to applying, the Pro Sculpting Brow in #10 (Blonde) is so natural looking if you have light hair! I’m so sick of other make up brands making a blonde brow product in dark brown! I hate that Sharpie eyebrow look, so this one is a must if you’re fed up too! Another great aspect about this product is its built in highlighter. Simply twist apart the wand, and use the sponge applicator to dab on some product under your brow bone for a finished look.
Step 3: Make Up For Ever Pro Sculpting Face Palette
The new Make Up For Ever Pro Sculpting Face Palette is a gorgeous set of cream colours. First, I took some of the contour colour with my fingers and dragged it along my cheekbones. I then took a plain blush brush (I find the Real Techniques Sculpting brush works best) to blend it out in tiny circular motions. Next, I used my pinky to gently dab some of the illuminating cream shade on the tops of my cheekbones, down my nose and above my cupid’s bow. I found picking the product up with my fingers really allowed it to blend, but I could always use my beautyblender again too! Lastly, I swished my blush brush into the blush colour of the Make Up For Ever Pro Sculpting Face Palette, over the apples of my cheeks for an innocent, natural rosy glow! Colour 20 is great for light skin tones, or if you’re hoping to get a more natural contour look.
Step 4: Make Up For Ever Pro Sculpting Lip
The most innovative product from this line is the Make Up For Ever Pro Sculpting Lip. I started by applying the creamy, pigmented lip crayon all over my lips. I loved that it was mechanical, and unlike my Nars pencils, the cream pencil was super easy, as it sharpened on its own and applied like a dream. To finish the lip look, I twisted off the other end of the lipstick and used the highlighting sponge (similar to the Pro Sculpting Brow) to dab on some lighter powder on the middle of the lips. While this kind of lip contouring technique has been around for ages, I love that this technique has been distilled into one single product and you can take it with you wherever you go! I’m wearing shade #10 Rosewood, which is a stunning, punchy pink.
Here, you have the finished make up look. I love how all of these products are space-saving multi-taskers. I wasn’t keen on it at first, but the Pro Sculpting Brow is quickly becoming my favourite product of the bunch. The applicator is very innovative, and I love that there is a spooly, the brow pencil/powder and a high lighter all in one. I find it stays in place all day, and it hasn’t made my brows break out either! I’m also loving the Pro Sculpting Palette, especially the highlighter which is perfect for waking up tired eyes or giving you a natural glow. You can find all of the Make Up For Ever Pro Sculpting products at Sephora.
