A couple weeks ago, I got another sneak peek of Spring at BCBG’s Bloor Street location. Select pieces from the line’s BCBGMAXAZRIA Runway collection were in the store and featured watercolour prints, cutouts, sheer paneling and feminine silhouettes.
I loved these two outfits. They are beautifully made and the print is elegant yet modern. There is also a cool sheer panel at the hem of the skirt, a recurring technique in other pieces from the collection as well.
The watercolour theme was also present in this beautiful maxi dress. I loved the relaxed silhouette of this gown, which would be perfect for a tropical vacation. The print is mirrored perfectly, which made it a difficult and costly piece to produce. The print is also analogous in other dresses and sizes as well, which is amazing, when you think the pattern was cut from the printed fabric, i can only imagine what happened to the other discarded pieces of that beautiful printed fabric (save some for a turban please!)
The collection also featured basic workwear pieces that can easily be mixed in with your wardrobe. I loved the easy-fitting yellow tank and tulip skirt.
I also liked this textured fishnet peplum top. The athletic fabric updates the peplum trend, which is still going strong in Spring 2014.
Also present at the preview were a few pieces from Herve Leger’s Spring 2014 collection. I love how the eponymous bandage dress has been updated with new textures, straps and gold hardware.
An updated classic black blazer with cutouts and lovely lace. The collection will start to get into stores starting in February. Until then, there were plenty of cold-weather options on sale and cute little gifts in store.
You’re so lucky to have had such a chance! I’d seen this in pictures, but pieces sometimes look so cold and distant on the runway. It’s great to have this covered by a blog and be able to see it up close.
Max Azria always plays beautifully with floral-esque prints, and the sheer panels are beautiful. And oh my god at that white, midi flare white Herve Leger dress…it must fit like a glove. As you said, it’s so interesting how the mythic bandage dress has been evolving and being renovated.
Really great post, it’s awesome to take a peek at such a dreamy collection up close! xxxx
