Over the summer, I’ve had an exciting job, managing a condo developer’s social media accounts. Besides visiting sites and working on social media campaigns, I’ve also had the excitement of curating a new work wardrobe. My first week, I stuck to a neutral combo of cropped dress pants and blouses, but now, I’ve been experimenting a bit more with the creative work environment’s dress code, and wanted to share a post on how to wear a lace skirt to work, a first in a series of “Workwear Wednesday posts.”
I’m wearing a giraffe print top from H&M (similar giraffe print shirt), a lace skirt from Joe Fresh, a navy Kate Spade purse, Fantomette sunglasses c/o Polette Eyewear (get 30% off with code COCONUTS), and suede peep-toe Majorca booties c/o TOMS Canada.

For tips on how to wear a lace skirt to work, first of all, I would make sure that the lace skirt has an appropriate length. You can’t pull off an office-appropriate look if your skirt is hiking up your legs, so something that hits below mid-thigh is best. Also, you want to avoid long lace skirts as well, as those can look too boho and lack polish. Look for a lace skirt with a thick lining beneath, and a solid structure so that it doesn’t ride up and stays put. Test the lace skirt out first, and make sure it’s taiilored, fittend and comfortable. I love how this skirt has the perfect length and oatmeal colour that literally goes with EVERYTHING!
My giraffe print top is an ecclectic touch. Keeping with the safari-esque structure of the lace skirt, the giraffe print is quirky and shows off my personality. I love that it covers my shoulders in frigid office AC, while also being a light poly chiffon material that is cool when I step outside for a coffee.
To accessorize, I added one of my favourite work bags, a structured leather bag that is elegant and practical. Next, a fun pair of sunglasses adds some personality!
I hope this post gave you some style tips on how to wear a lace skirt to work, the key is finding the right piece and keeping the silhouette simple. I’m excited to share another “Workwear Wednesday” post next week, so stay tuned!
Adorable work outfit! We definitely salute your friendly yet polished approach to work wear.
