It’s hard to say it’s spring in Ottawa. This week alone, I bought a mini rose and bouquet of tulips just to remind myself that warmer weather is ahead. Last weekend, my boyfriend came for a visit and the weather was not cooperating. It was freezing and wet, and though I’m happy we could spend a day at the slopes, I’ve been dying to slip into ballet flats. I’m so sick of wearing my parka, so I threw on my Mackage wool coat with a Zara red plaid scarf to add a punch of colour.
I’m wearing a Mackage wool coat, Zara red plaid scarf (sold out – similar plaid blanket scarf here), over the knee suede boots, Michael Kors Selma tote, and a wool felt fedora from Forever 21.

I love how versatile this Zara red plaid scarf is. I always wear a blanket scarf when I fly because it makes the perfect blanket or wrap in case there’s a draft. All winter long, I’ve worn it under my parka to keep my neck warm, but now that it’s (marginally) warmer, I’ve been layering it on top of my wool coats as a cozy accessory.
I fell in love with this fedora for the gold chain detail and the shape. I’ve been forced to wear tuques all winter, so I’m looking forward to wearing it more soon!
Today, it’s sunny and the snow from yesterday is starting to melt again. This winter and spring (so far) feels like a joke, but in the meantime, I’ll be in the library cozy with some tea… maybe by the time I’m done with exams, I’ll finally be able to wear those ballet flats I’ve been dreaming about!
