Last week, I attended the launch of Canadian jewelry designer, Alessia Magnotta‘s line at Gilding the Lily. The gorgeous jewelry store is located in Toronto’s historic and chic Distillery District, which was the perfect photo backdrop for my favourite new find. This bohemian lace dress from Zara has a gorgeous wrap style, cap sleeves and ribbon belt. I paired it with neutral shoes, a vintage bag and gold jewelry to complete the look.
I’m wearing a lace Zara dress (sold out, similar high end option: Blaque Label short sleeve lace dress, low end option: Forever 21 Lady in Lace Dress), Chinese Laundry sandals (old, similar Chinese Laundry Breathless in Nude), vintage pink purse (similar Missguided pink envelope clutch).
Shop the outfit:
For my jewerly, I’m wearing a sapphire ring, gold flower ring (similar Max & Chloe Blooming Flower Ring), gold Vita Fede Crystal Titan ring, Michael Kors Pressly watch in silver, and a crystal necklace from Czech Republic (similar Judith Ripka Canary Crystal Pear Drop necklace)
Shop the jewelry:
I wanted to pair this new lace Zara dress with old favourites, including my favourite vintage clutch and a crystal necklace my dad bought me from Prague. I thought that the plunging, wrap neckline of this lace dress was perfect for the drop necklace.
Inside Gilding the Lily, I immediately fell in love with the decor. From a kids’ play are complete with a tipi filled with colouring books (so mommy can shop in peace!), to shelves filled with crystal bookends, cool books and trinkets. These aspects of the store come second to the unique jewelry inside the cases though!
Toronto-based designer, Alessia Magnotta’s collection consisted of high end and entry level pieces. From dainty elastic cord bracelets to silver and gold stacking rings. My personal favourites were the faceted amethyst rings and the pearl and gold stacking rings that had an asymmetrical, architectural design. Magnotta hand-carved the gold, and the piece is incredibly heavy yet looks light on the finger.
I loved how Magnotta used her signature bow-tie in her designs and branding. The little silver earrings were cute, while a matching slave bracelet is more edgy and trendy.
After enjoying a glass of bubbly and perusing the rest of the pieces at Gilding the Lily, I will definitely be back soon when I’m looking for another unique piece to add to my collection. Celebrity stylist and owner of the store, Annie Jagger has an extremely curated selection at Gilding the Lily, and hopefully there will be many more Canadian jewelry designers to come!
