Last Saturday, I had the chance to craft and meet the online crafting queen, Erica Domesek of PS-I made this at an event hosted by Hudson Jeans and Holt Renfrew. The afternoon was to celebrate Domesek’s second book, P.S. You’re Invited, which features crafty ideas for fashion, home and entertaining.
Guests (both bloggers and blog readers alike) were in attendance, and many got their hands deep in Swarovski crystals as they bedazzled denim pouches. I loved that the event was interactive (keeping people around as they waited to meet Domesek) and the communal crafting vibe is definitely what PS-I made this is all about!
My design was inspired by my favourite accessory – a statement necklace! First, I affixed a strand of crystal chain carefully with a needle and thread, then I placed a few Swarovski elements crystals in a pretty pattern. It was easy to sew the crystals on because they already had holes… I could only dream of using these crystals as buttons on a cardigan!
Domesek was on hand, guiding people through their creations and even helped a couple crafters-in-training.
I picked up her book, which is covered in dazzling crystals (PS-her phone matches) and there are a few ideas (a pearl chandelier, for one) I’m thinking of interpreting into my bathroom makeover.
Erika and I, showing off our creations.
Guests also snacked on delicious Jelly Modern donuts, which were also partly “DIY” as you could select the base, filling and toppings.
I loved seeing everyone participate in the DIY fun. I think everyone has a creative side and it was a great environment to stretch that muscle. All that was missing was some wine and a girly flick playing in the background!
