Last week, I checked out Caitlin Power’s Spring 2014 collection. The Calgary-born designer sent down pieces in signature leather and sleek cuts down the runway at David Pecaut Square.
Check out my video of the final walk at the show.

The collection opened with looks featuring tailored suit pieces and elegant blouses. I loved the touches of leather, contrasting lapels and the graphic black and white stripes. I especially liked the white vest and short suit as well as the white blouse with the glossy snakeskin leather skirt. The looks were relatable and very structured for summer. However, I wasn’t a fan of the silk dresses. I found the cuts to be ill-fitting on the models, so that the fabric bunched up as they walked down the runway. The colourblock panels also seemed a bit removed from the collection, and current trends. The show ended on a stronger note, with a trio of models wearing leather dresses. Power is definitely a master of making sexy and chic leather pieces. Her collection embodied the spirit of a confident, powerful woman.
