On Wednesday, I got a little preview of what’s in store at Nine West for Fall 2013. The weather outside was cold and grey which was fitting, since Nine West had so many cute booties and tall boots. While the collection won’t be in stores just yet… the weather definitely gave me an appetite for the new fall offerings.
The preview was held at Arcadian Court on Bay Street, overlooking Old City Hall. For fall 2013, Nine West’s collection centred around several themes to encapsulate all the trends. Here are some of the hottest shoe trends from Nine West, Enzo Anglioni, Anne Klein and a few others.
The Isn’t She Lovely collection consisted of ladylike pumps in feminine colours. I loved the mauve and fuschia hues, as well as the girly studs, ruffles and bow accents.
In a total contrast to the girlie offerings, the Nostalgic Nomad collection had an array of boots and booties in rugged, practical shapes. I loved the buttery-soft leather and suede boots that came in unexpected dyes. The collection is casual, but practical for rainy fall weather.
These suede western-inspired booties were amazing. I loved the stacked heel and the contrasting coloured suede.
50 Shades of Black picked up on fall’s black on black trend. Even the buckles and zippers are in gunmental black, for a sleek look. These boots were inspired by a pair by Givenchy, and are an avant garde addition to your boot collection.
For the less daring, these quilted black booties look comfy and dressy at the same time. A more girly version of a motorcycle boot, they could go with a dress and tights or ripped jeans.
Black continues to be another trend, but this time, Nine West focused on pairing basic black with gold to create the Gilded Noir trend.
These tall boots were a stand out with its thick heel, supple suede and stunning gold back zipper.
The only thing more basic than black is (in my opinion at least), leopard. Nine West created a new leopard print for fall – the mini cheetah. The print is tinier and looks very high-end. These pumps with the asymmetrical shape and high inner side vamp are beautiful.
The same shape was carried over into the trend influenced by cutting-edge architecture and design from Asia. The collection featured graphic floral prints and avant-garde shapes, something I didn’t expect from the preview.
Nine West is known as the purveyors of pumps…and this collection, Be the Boss is all about the career gal. I love how the collection focused on subtle, trendy twists on office staples. While I’ve never worked in a conservative workplace like finance, I would get so bored of the same pair of black pumps. With patent and embossed leathers, this collection adds oomph into workwear.
Outside the event, Nine West displayed their “World According to Pumps” which showed off a range of different heel heights and new materials for fall.
1960s mod continues to dominate trends, and It’s a Mod Mod World pulled together an amazing collection of retro-inspired kicks. I love the low heel heights and the houndstooth print. There’s also a pair of patent leather go-go boots with a cylinder heel that are literally out of this world.
Of course, one of my favourite parts of the preview was the ballet bar. Nine West’s smoking slippers are gorgeous for fall. I love the rich jewel tones and the textures… from the fleur-de-lys embroidery to the oxblood ponyhair.
With supple suedes, architectural shapes and rich texture, the preview had a wide variety of styles to meet anyone’s taste. While I still haven’t slipped into spring 2013 shoes yet, this fall collection got me excited for cooler temperatures again.
