Mackage Spring/Summer 2013

Mackage is a brand known for its exceptional attention to detail and exquisite materials. For their Spring 2013 collection, they’ve kicked things up a notch, injecting coulour and ombre finishes to their repertoire of coveted leather and trench coats.

The brand had amazing styling… I loved the hair, which was in sleek ponytails with geometric barettes. I also learned that the nails were custom-designed by an Essie nail artist, who created an ombre effect and topped it off with a matte top coat, recreating the effect of the brand’s signature leather. Sometimes, it’s all in the details, especially when we’re talking about a Mackage coat!

I loved the trench coats with the contrasting leather sleeves. They’re a signature of their collection, and other brands like Burberry, but I love that they mixed it up pairing different colours against the leather.

The mens’ collection featured updated details and new hues on classic cuts. I loved this brown jacket with horizontal stitching on the shoulders.

Another incredible detail was the quilting on this grey jacket. I think it also came in citron (which can be seen in the video above), which I’m coveting for Spring.

My biggest problem with leather is that it’s often limited to a small range of colours. Ever since I bought my DNA lavender bomber in Utrecht, I’ve fallen in love with pastel-hued leather jackets. Mackage picked up on this trend and featured pieces in mint and citron. I loved the mint jackets and am so tempted to start saving up for one of these incredible pieces when they will be available in the new year.

And last but not least, look at this ombre jacket. Stunning effect on a simple bomber cut. I thought the collection was very strong, and succeeded in re-inventing your standard spring coat.
