The Trevi Fountain is one of the most romantic and iconic attractions in Rome. Sadly, where there is history and beauty in Rome, often the tourists and con artists follow. We got to the fountain at sunset, just as the sky turned from light blue to cerulean. I was completely blown away by the size and beauty of this Baroque fountain.
Illuminated by old-fashioned street lamps, the fountain depicting allegories of Oceanus.
To match the turquoise water flowing from the sculptures, I’m wearing a waterfall chiffon skirt from Zara, a polkadot bustier and some statement jewellery.
My turquoise nails match not only my skirt, but the fountain as well. I’m so in love with this ring, from a pop up sale in Amsterdam’s 9 streets.
Earlier in the day, I visited the Pantheon, which was an incredible experience, that was almost spiritual, looking back.
The ancient Roman building is practically intact, and its splendour is not overshadowed by Rome’s more modern offerings. I’ve been to many places of worship before, but the Pantheon has a unique spot in my memories for its architecture that was ahead of its time.
Shadows of the past…
On my way to dinner, I spotted a ruin filled with cats – which were vaccinated and fixed by the city. It’s great to see the population contained and the cats taken care of. Needless to say, I made some new furry friends.
A perfect way to end my day. Gluten-free calzone at my favourite fast food Roman pizzeria near the Trajan market. I still dream about their delectable g-free goodies… but more on that later!
With food in my belly, the fountain was a perfect way to end my day in Rome. If only I could be as daring as Sylvia… and not get arrested for attempting that in real life.
