Millenial Pink isn’t going away anytime soon. The popularity of San Diego’s Holy Matcha Cafe is a testament that velvet pink benches, marble tables and adorable matcha lattes complete with word art are a perfect combo. On my recent trip to San Diego, we visited the North Park cafe, to test out their matcha lattes and take in the adorable decor.
I accidentally matched the decor in this beautiful nude pink dress from Anthropologie (similar embroidered off the shoulder dress here). For accessories, I wore my Gucci Marmont shoulder bag in nude, a pair of round mirror sunglasses and leather sandals from Clarks.

I loved how my Gucci Marmont bag matched the pink and gold interior of the chic matcha cafe. Beyond the cafe, there was a shelf full of products, including a matcha coffee table book, gold accessories and some fine teas and matcha powders to make at home. I do wish they had some matcha whisks… I’d love to own a pretty one, or even one branded from the shop.
As for the matcha itself? Smooth, very rich and with a nice flavour. There are many drinks on Holy Matcha’s menu, including smoothies and mocktails. We went for the classic option and I adore how it came with the words sprinkled in matcha powder. The lattes are insta-ready. In addition to drinks, the cafe sells donuts, waffles and other baked goods. We were in a rush to get to La Jolla so we took our drinks to go, but I’d love to come back for a light breakfast sometime soon; their vegan, gluten free waffles come served full of edible flowers!
Keep note this cafe takes credit cards only. As a Canadian tourist, I’m always paying with cash, so it’s just something to keep in mind. The decor of this cafe is worth the visit alone. I loved the neon sign, elegant marble counter and the fun, tropical wallpaper. North Park is a vibrant neighbourhood, and Holy Matcha fits right in. The whole aesthetic reminded me a lot of Cafe Can Can in Toronto or even the new Laduree Yorkdale location, but I loved how airy this cafe felt! It is completely sun-drenched and I can’t wait to visit again soon.
Holy Matcha San Diego is located at 3118 University Ave, San Diego, CA 92104, USA.
