I love a good cheap and chic collaboration. Jason Wu for Target is no disappointment with its preppy East coast ensembles and darling accessories. The best part? Nothing is over $59.99! The collection comes out in Target stores on February 5 (also my dog, Rosie’s birthday). Here are some of my favourites.
The dresses are elegant and very demure, I love this white frock. It would look amazing at a garden party come summertime!
I’m a sucker for sheer panels, and this dress amps up a reserved cut with sexy black sheer on the collarbone. Those little sheer socks are sweet too!
This black and white ensemble is so simple and elegant. It reminds me of the uniforms they used to wear on Gossip Girl. That blouse with the dainty bow tie belongs in my closet. I’d love to modernise it (a la Janelle Monae) with a tuxedo pant and neon coloured shoes.
Jason Wu brought a little Americana into this look! I like the red and navy contrast.
I could definitely see Michelle Obama in that pastel blue cardigan! Michelle Obama is a big fan of Wu, and wore one of his gowns on the night of Barack Obama’s inauguration as President.
I’m obsessed with anything in blush, and this blouse is no exception! I love the ruffle detail on the front, as well as the print of that pencil skirt.
This ensemble is very fashion-forward for Spring.
Wu added a darker element to the collection with this trench. Trenchcoats are big for Spring, especially ones with contrasting details. I can’t tell much from this photo, but the light piping is a subtle touch. Here’s to hoping the trench comes in more colours!
This look is preppy purrfection. See what I did there?
The collection has some gorgeous accessories, including lady like structured bags. I don’t know what they’re made of, but at the price point, the designs and hardware are nice enough to spruce up your Spring-centered bag repertoire.
And my absolute favourite is this cat print silk scarf and tote!
I won’t be in North America for the launch, but hopefully my mom can snag a couple of goodies… she’s a great shopper, considering she nabbed a pair of gloves and shoes from the highly coveted Missoni for Target line this past Fall.
Let’s see if this collection can live up to the hype of its Italian predecessor – I really hope so, especially since the designs are just as cute.
