In August, I went to Cirque du Soleil Luzia in Toronto and it was absolutely phenomenal! I know this might come too little too late, but I wanted to write a quick post about the experience, and you can still grab tickets to see the show until October 16!
I wanted to channel the nature and colours of Mexico, so I wore this floral lace dress from Mendocino. I love the unique print and texture of this lace, as well as the bright teal colour. I paired it with my comfy Vince Camuto heels and my new medium Prada Galleria bag. This outfit felt dressy and fun!
Cirque du Soleil Luzia in Toronto review
Cirque du Soleil Luzia in Toronto is a brand new show. I’ve never seen a Cirque du Soleil performance before, so I was super excited! I actually bought the tickets to surprise my boyfriend for his birthday. The theme of the show was “Mexico” and having been to Playa del Carmen, Cancun and the Yucatan Peninsula in general, the show was mesmerizing.
One of my favourite acts involved a silks performer. The scene was set in a cenote, and the acrobat was interacting with a leopard puppet. It was incredibly beautiful and moving to watch. My other favourite part was the contortionist. I know that Cirque draws top talent, but this was easily the most incredible contortionist I’ve seen in my life! It seemed as if he didn’t have any ribs at all! I also really enjoyed the soccer trick duo, which brought the urban energy of Mexico to life. Cirque du Soleil Luzia in Toronto was a series of vignettes, each piece recounting the history, culture and nature of Mexico.
I’m going to be visit Playa del Carmen in December with my boyfriend, and I absolutely cannot wait to visit a Cenote and Tulum again. Cirque du Soleil Luzia in Toronto reminded me how much I love the beautiful country and its people! If you love Mexico, or performance, I cannot urge you enough to go see it before the big top leaves town!
Afterwards, we kept with the Mexican-theme of the evening and went to El Catrin in the Distillery District. We celebrated Daniel’s birthday over margaritas and delicious tapas. The first time I went to El Catrin, I was disappointed with their tacos. This time, we opted for Atun Ceviche (I loved the combination of watermelon and tuna) and Crucero del Amor (this was my favourite dish of the night, the plantain and beef was exquisite).
It was the perfect date, and way to celebrate Daniel’s birthday! I hope you have the chance to catch Cirque du Soleil Luzia in Toronto, I’m already planning on seeing their show, Joya in Mexico!
