This season, sock booties are taking over. Worn with a pair of jeans or bare legs and a cute skater skirt, sock booties can add a trendy edge to your fall wardrobe. I wore this pair of sock booties by Charles by Charles David c/o DSW Canada with a suede skirt and mockneck sweater for a great transitional look. If I add tights and a wool topper, this combination can take me well into the winter months!

I’m wearing a suede skirt from Forever 21, a mockneck sweater from Forever 21, a crossbody bag from Aldo and booties c/o DSW Canada.

Tips for wearing sock booties

While it might be tempting to purchase a pair of sock booties in sumptuous velvet or minimalistic nude neoprene, it’s not the most practical choice for our wet and chilly weather here in Canada. I love that this pair has the sock style, but is still made of a durable vegan leather, which can be waterproofed with spray every so often. I also adore the tortoiseshell heel, which adds a luxe touch.

I really love the way sock booties look with a shorter skirt and bare legs. Gigi Hadid wore a similar getup to her Tommy x GiGi event at New York Fashion week. The look is sexy, yet edgy. I would definitely avoid midi skirts as this type of boot can cut off the leg… you definitely want to show off those gams! Another way to wear these boots is with a short, chunky sweater dress and bare legs. I would also recommend wearing sock style boots with a pair of ram hem jeans, with an inch or two of skin peeking out, or a pair of ripped skinny jeans tucked into the booties for a streamlined look.
