Style the trend: Graphic Stripes

Style the trend: Graphic Stripes

This season, fall down the rabbit hole into a land of whimsical, bright prints. A standout pattern are graphic stripes, in bright colours and fantastical shapes, to create a youthful free-spirited vibe. I styled a graphic striped maxi dress on my recent trip to Riviera Maya to show you how to style the trend. Here, I took the minimalistic approach and let the graphic stripes speak for themselves! You can also take the maximalist approach, and pile on the graphic stripes for a major statement.

I wanted to share some major inspiration from Farfetch, an international website that connects customers with the best boutiques and designers on one site, one platform. What I personally love about this site is their curated, on-trend selection and the fact that they include shipping and duties in their prices, so there’s no surprise for us Canadians! Check out some of my favourite graphic striped pieces below:

For a chic, professional look, I paired the Lanvin Candy Stripe Shift Dress, with a pair of Paula Cademartori Crazy Striped Sandals. With bare legs, this combo screams it-girl. To carry all your essentials in between brunch, afternoon meetings and drink dates, the Valentino B-Rockstud Striped Shoulder Bag is your perfect companion. I loved mixing bold stripes of the dress with the pastel shade of the purse. What makes this look cohesive is that all the stripes are warm colours, and compliment one another without clashing. The cork on the shoes also adds a unique texture to break up the patterns.

For a dainty, nautical take on the graphic stripes trend, I collected this MGSM Stripe Ruffle dress, which is perfect for a party on a yacht, or an entire summer season of wedding and baby showers. I also paired the dress with a unique, architectural Edie Parker Striped Round Clutch bag. This piece is elegant and classic, while the round shape transforms it into a conversation piece. To finish off the nautical look, I paired it with Dolce and Gabbana Striped pumps for an elegant look that screams polish.

farfetch graphic stripes missoni

These Missoni Woven Stripe Trousers are everything. Perfect with a white tee, chambray shirt or patterned crop top, they pack a punch and will be a piece to cherish for years to come. I love the idea of mixing stripes, so I paired it with an M Missoni wavy stripes knit t-shirt. The combo of the vertical and horizontal stripes is a perfect way to pattern mix. This outfit will make you the star of any street style photographer! To keep the pattern mixing going, I paired it with a pastel chevron Valentino Rockstud Striped clutch. This is perfect for stashing away your lipstick, keys and phone, while the wristlet strap allows you to dance the night away, hands-free. Because there’s so much going on with this look, I kept it simple with a pair of striped Ancient Greek Sandals.

I think a lot of people are scared to embrace patterns and show their personality. It’s a complete misnomer that stripes enlarge your figure, in fact, stripes in the right places and direction can actually serve to whittle your silhouette and enhance your more favourable assets. Vertical stripes are fabulous because they make you look taller, while a chic, thin striped breton top looks amazing with a pair of white jeans. Graphic stripes are a great way to show off your personality, and they never go out of style, so investing in one of the pieces I listed above is a wonderful option to hop on a trend, while adding a timeless piece to your wardrobe. I hope you enjoyed checking out my three ways to style the graphic stripes trend with pieces from Farfetch!
